I'd get a 2D MT if only they would stretch it 6-8". I can't afford 2 Jeeps, so a daily driver 2Dr in current form is a no go for me.

Thank you for this.

Further analysis:

2D MT: 13.6%
4D MT: 01.9%

Food for either camp RE: the 2DR and/or MT going away.

Taken together, the 2D MT really seems to serve an important segment of Wrangler buyers. That ~2 in 100 Wrangler 4Ds are manual is not peanuts either. Taken together, the bean counters don't miss this. Maybe exactly why Ford offered manual Broncos from day one.
Don't forget the 3.6 is tied to the MT as well. So even if the 2D sticks around, if the 3.6 goes bye-bye, I have a feeling the MT is SOL. Why they don't offer on the 2.0T is beyond me. Ford has a manual on their turbo 2.3, so that shouldn't be an excuse.

These are horrible numbers for the future of the MT.....maybe it is only viable because the other 98% have to pay an upcharge for an automatic :)

I'd love a 2D AT stretched 6-8". Per rr4w: 9 rated trails require a minimum wheelbase 100"

What's the JL wheelbase? 96.7" IIRC. I know it's a few inches under 100.

I looked into a 2D stretch, it's $35K with a 2 year wait.

I actually would be interested in a 2 door with the same wheel base as a 4 door.

These have a similar wheel base and would love to build similar on a Jeep.
That would be idea for us and ideal for Jeep. That would improve their economy of scale.

You can root for the MT and 2D to go away, but postulating the 3.6 goes away is silly. Your argument is even worse if you think about why the MT is "tied" to the 3.6. Bean counters are not going to allow extensive testing/verification of the MT on all engines. Only the most popular or long-lived. So your argument's logic suggests the 2.0 is more likely to go bye-bye than the 3.6.

Y'all can wish ruin for 2D and MTs all you want, but remember, you want them to go away, just say that.

Maybe if you believe doctors are great with money... kind of logic. What's the upcharge the other 89% of 2023 buyers had to pay for a 4D?
You’re delusional, paranoid and clearly lack reading comprehension. I don’t wish the 2D to go away. Quite the opposite. But I’m a realist and wouldn’t bet on it long term.

I’ve said time and again. Give it 6-8” more wheelbase and cargo space and I would have one.

I have a 2door Rubi MT. I knew that it was an uncommon combination from when I did my market research when I ordered in 2021. But that is an amazingly small number.

Sigh......your understanding of sarcasm meter needs calibration.

Personally, I think a production model of the J6 concept might fit that bill. Make a small 2-door pickup truck built on the 4-door platform, but with an added hardtop cap for the bed. Though it would be nice if there was somehow a way you could configure either rear seats or pickup bed.
You do that without having a separate bed. Just a bulkhead behind the front seats, like a CJ8.
@The Last Cowboy - You beat me to it. Yes, @AFD pretty much describes the CJ8. It was sold as the Scrambler Pick Up and also as a closed / panel truck version; as used by the Alaskan Postal Service. (Believe the Hardtop version was export only.)

I was under the impression that people bought the 2 door for its short wheelbase. There's already an extremely well-selling alternative with a longer wheelbase and more cargo space.

You do realize the JLU is about 20” longer. Two door could easily gain 6-8” and still be nimble. Just my opinion.

You and I are part of the 0.3% club 👍
0.3% that they must be content with or they would improve drivetrain options. 2dr diesel, V8– stout granny box or Tremec Magnum ? Nope, Nope, Nope, Nope. 2dr Rubi 392 Tremec. Maybe low %, but myself included. Would be a BALL ! Guaranteed ! from close enough experience . 👍

Exactly! I’d love to see a longer wheelbase 2-door.

JL wheelbase: 96.8”
JLU: 118.4”
LJ: 103.4”

Yes, the JL is longer than the TJ (93.4”) but is far short of the LJ. I think a wheelbase of 103.4” would have been perfect for the JL.

I love my two door but something about its proportions are not quite right.

Thanks @AFD for bringing this query to my attention. It's fun having access to all of this data.
Thank you for taking the time to respond and post this data.
VERY COOL 😎

I'm in the exclusive 2% JLR club & THE "LIMITED" DEUCES ✌🫡

My dilemma was I wanted a manual 2door but I didn't want the v6 again... I live 7K elevation and play in the higher mountains and the v6 just loses too much power and mpgs suck with 37s. So I choose the 2L i4Turbo which doesn't have a manual option. I am very happy with the engine power on & off road PLUS I'm getting 20mpg with 37s and 2.5 lift... SWEET SETUP 💯 The only better option for me would be the future twin-turbo v6... UGH 🤨
PS the v8 is not a consideration due to its <10mpg with >37tires...
