Post pictures and details of your specific 2 door lift for others.
I’m new to a 2 door JL and Cant find much info about 2 door specific lift details. Some manufacturers make 2 and 4 door specific lifts and others don’t. I think It would be handy to have a place where others like myself can get details and see what each manufacturers lift looks like on a 2 door.

Im not really a novel book kind of guy. I like pop-ups, pictures, coloring areas, etc. So, I’ll start this out by posting a picture of my stock suspension JLW that a got home a couple days ago……

Clayton Overland + 2.5" lift. For me, perfect lift for 35's on the two door.

Very nice rig! How does that lift ride on/off road compared to the stock suspension?

MetalCloak 2.5" Game Changer with Rocksports with 315/70-17 KO2's.

Jeep Wrangler JL 2 Door Specific Lift Details and Pictures IMG_2834.JPEG

Pinch Seam Height
  • Stock 32.7" tires = 17.25"
  • With 34.4" tires = 18.75"
  • With 34.4" tires & MetalCloak 2.5" lift = 21"
Mileage
  • Stock averaged 21 mpg
  • Bigger tires averaged 18.5 mpg
  • Bigger tires and lift averaged 17.5 mpg
  • Bigger tires, lift, and added lights averaged 16.5 mpg (Also winter 4wd use) (17.3 mpg on summer fuel)
  • All the upgrades, plus 4.88 gears averaged 18mpg
  • All the upgrades, plus 4.88 gears and winter fuel averaged 16.5mpg over 3 tanks

The lift is quiet, with the duroflex joints soaking up road noise and harsh vibrations, has awesome articulation off road to keep tires on the ground, and the ride is only a bit stiffer than stock.

The Rocksport shocks don't quite hold up on washboard roads or going very fast but they "rock" in the rocks. Currently looking at alternatives, but it's still a great lift. IMHO

I've been looking at the Clayton overland kits for my 2 door. It looks like you went with fox shocks, how's the ride? Also, a question for everyone with a lift, any issues with front or rear driveshaft angles?

Rear driveshaft angles are a question I have as well - particularly on tall-for-JL lifts at 3.5"+. Fronts usually got to go at those heights, but the rear is something less discussed, particularly in the 2 doors.

The GC lift will require the front drive shaft even at 2.5" due to the droop. The axle drops so much that the stock drive shaft will hit stock parts. I bought their front shaft, but now thinking to get a set of 1350's driveshafts for both front and back.

I can see the rear wearing on the lips, so it's a will need at some point.

I was planning on front and rear driveshafts anyways, just wondering how soon after a lift. Good info on the metalcloak. I had front and rear Adams driveshafts on my '09 jku and loved them. Will go with them again since I'm only a few miles away from their shop.

Any pics of the rear wear?

Judging by this, their 1.5" Overland kit may put me right where I wanna be.

On road is almost the same as stock. I have to remind myself that it is lifted and has larger tires, so it is not going to track perfectly, but it works just fine. Offroad is great. More articulation and feels softer than stock.

The Fox shocks are a little too soft for my liking. I enjoy more of a teeth rattling stiff suspension, like my TJ had years ago. No driveline issues, the only thing you have to do is rotate the pinion angle on the rear to make the spring perches to match up, and at full flex, this could cause some binding. I have not experienced any issues yet.

What size tires are you planning with their smaller lift?
Im trying to find the right lift for 35s on my JLW without being too tall.
