My plan is to replace the fenders/liners when I go to bigger tires.
I was hoping Metalcloak would pick me for their front fenders and force my hand. lol

I'm not sure yet though as I've seen the inner lining removed and stuff so may chase the free mods first.

Had a flashback a couple minutes ago. (My wife is "babysitting"my daughter's JLU.)

ONE YEAR AGO, we were all asking "WHERE IS MY JL" (2 Door). 1 year later, I am still Happy!!!!

A year later, still looks perfect! I imagine your wife is not babysitting your daughter’s JLU like we have been “babysitting” our kids’ dogs for the last 2 years!

Now that I got my tow cables, I’m back looking at a simple CB radio. I see Jeep events not only are more fun, but require one, which makes snse.
Need advice if this hand held is any good. I need to keep it simple.

I've been thinking about CB's as well. Line of sight communication? Don't know that I want to wire a base unit and if I had two of these I could make sure my buddy has one as well.

FWIW, Amazon has that same one for $89.

You really don't need to buy me one, Gary. I already have another model. :giggle:

But are they any good? I think it said it has a range of 1/2 mile and more.
That I can't answer. You should see if @geospyder, Jim, has any better info since he uses a similar model.

I picked up a lightly used handheld on Ebay for under $40. It looked brand new. It should be fine for group trail rides, as long as reception is good enough to hear the Leader and Gunner.

Well, he’s probably roaming around somewhere towards the end of the world... and who knows when he’ll be back!
Meanwhile I’ll look at its reviews on Amazon.

Edit:
Looked at reviews. Seems range probably about 100 yards. When I will need one, I will have a properly mounted one. No rush for me yet.

Its more about antenna than radio, what limits the handheld is its short antenna, no cb is going to talk very far, thats why they are cheap and great for trail communication. You can get by with that handheld for awhile. I dont think i have more than &150 in my radio and antenna but it works great. Cheap uniden and a firestick antenna.

I splurged and got the Cobra kit from CoolTech, just over $200. The antenna bracket is friggin cool! (sorry about the filthy Jeep)

Did you install it already? Curious how you like it. What I fear is a friggin’ complicated drilling labirynth like John’s. I can’t even change bolts, much less that... I do like your mount though, pretty cool. Just looked it up.
