Hey guys trying to figure out how much lift I will get out of a jks 2.5 lift on a 2021 jlu sport s with factory bumpers and after market rock rails. I've been researching the difference between the 2.5 and 3.5 and can't decide. I will go with the standard rate spring and toyo at3 35*12.5*17 tires. As I stand now the 2.5 looks a tad small and the 3.5 looks a tad tall for trails and trips to camp and ice fishing, no rock crawling.

Here is a 2.5” budget boost on my sport s. I do rock crawling with it. I’m on 35x12.5x17 with Black Rhino Barstow 17x9.5 with a -18 offset

How much lift did you obtain? Exactly 2.5?

First thing you need to decide is whether or not you plan on replacing your driveshafts. Most manufacturers recommend aftermarket driveshafts at a 3.5" kit and larger. You can run a 2.5" kit on the factory driveshaft without issues. Unless you're running an overlanding kit from a manufacturer, you'll probably get an extra quarter to half inch out of the lift. Most of your overlanding kits (actually labeled as overlanding kits from the manufacturer) are designed to carry the extra weight of overlanding gear (roof top tents, canopies, refrigerators, etc...). These kits will tend to sit higher when not loaded down with gear.

I have a 2.5" Clayton Overland Plus kit and I got 3.5" inches out of my kit, hence the 35's looking tiny.

I’m gonna resurrect your post here Elvis, do you have measurements of your jeep after the lift I could have so I can measure mine to get a estimate on height as I am stuck between 35s and a 2.5 or 37s and a 3.5

I can get you measurements, just tell me where you want them taken from. I've swapped my sport fenders for rubicon fenders and added an aftermarket front bumper since my pics in this thread were taken.

Bottom of the frame, bottom of the door bottom of fender subtract 1” lol or the sag fron your bumpers will comply with the difference. Thanks man!

My first post here, so pardon any ignorance in my questions.

Does the overland kit also tend to ride stiffer, or with sharp rebound on the rear springs, when it's empty?

I've been reading up on the different lift systems, and keep finding myself comparing them to the Clayton.

Thanks in advance.

Here are a couple of measurements from the frame and cross member on the driver side.

The ride is a bit stiffer than the factory but not because of the springs. The rule of thumb is that springs give the height of the lift while shocks provide comfort for the ride. I'm running Fox shocks and overall they're pretty comfortable for me. I haven't been in other jeeps with other shocks so I can't really comment on how stiffer or looser the ride feels. I'd imagine the springs are a bit stiffer than some of the manufacturer's springs only because they're made to carry the extra weight without a lot of sagging. The Clayton kit has exceeded my expectation overall and I haven't had any issues with. I'm actually heading up to Colorado in a couple of weeks and I'll be hitting all the Badge of Honor trails while I'm up there.

I couldn't hold the measuring tape in the wheel well and take a picture at the same time but I have 13" of space between the top of the tire and inside of the fender well.
