So I posted about this a few months ago on the 2.0l 4cyl-there;s a TSB out to this- the water pump bolt was improperly torqued and caused this issue. Maybe this was the case for you. Best of luck and keep the jeep wave going.
This happened to my 21 Sahara 2.0. I only had 3919 miles on it when it was flat towed to the dealership. My paperwork says they performed “TSB 07-001-22 tube water pump inlet pressure test cooling system and Retorque fasteners”.

You'd think they'd remove it and change the gasket.

Update.

Dealer got to it this morning and it's the connection on the coolant inlet tube. A known problem. Easy fix and will be done today.

If it's a known issue why wouldn't they issue a recall?!?

Because engine overheating gives you plenty of time to pull over safely. Seriously, that’s why. Recalls are for safety only.

When I bought mine in Feb, the dealer said FCA wouldn't pay them for any warranty work unless they went through the Jeep with a fine tooth comb and a new inspection checklist. They said this was brand new as of that day, maybe they are starting to check fasteners and junk like that for torque before delivering them to the customer.

Possibly. I ordered in August and picked up in October. The shop here said this was only the 2nd one they've seen, but they did know about and had a good idea what the cause was when I spoke to the yesterday morning.

10/3/22. Same thing happened to me around 12600. I was on the highway, coasting down a mountain pass and the temp spiked, lights went off, fan kicked it in high gear. And I cranked it over to the only available pull out, and shut it off. Also the only place with cell service. In 40° weather and pouring rain. Got a tow to the dealership and they removed the water pump, pressure washed my engine bay, reinstalled the water pump with blue loctite, and reinstalled and torqued the bolts back down. The tech mentioned they had a few in, but none have come back. So fingers crossed. They covered it under warranty, and sent me on the way. We could have fixed it ourselves, but I wanted to make sure the dealership/Chrysler had a note and documentation on my vin about this so if we have trouble further down the line, they know it was in and serviced after the failure.

I noticed a similar issue and the dealer said, “it’s fine there’s nothing wrong.” Driving in the mountains in 40 degree weather at 60mph downhill and the fan is roaring. My first thought was, it’s 40 degrees outside, why is the engine too hot??!

Dealership staff are mostly morons.

Just had this happen to my 22 JLUR except it happened in my driveway. The improperly torqued water pump bolts that the TSB was issued for were the culprit

Here's the TSB for the exact issue, my jeep had the same thing, dumped all the coolant, probably ran it with out coolant for 15 miles before I noticed the temp gauge was holding at 235 and not dropping. Didn't loose the motor or pop a head gasket, happened at 10,000km/7000miles, I'm at 18,000km now, no issues yet, I don't trust it as I know those cylinder walls had nothing to cool them, time will tell.

Thx for posting the TSB. However it has been updated to be effective for 2.0T JLs built before March 2022. If your 2.0T JL/JLU was built before that, check those bolts!!

Just got our 2021 Jeep JLU back yesterday due to coolant spewing out. They put loctite on inlet tube bolts.
Repair Procedure

1. Remove one inlet tube fastener (Figure 1).

Figure 1 - Water Pump Inlet Tube Fasteners

  1. Apply Mopar 04318031AC (or equivalent) to fastener thread.
  2. Install the water pump inlet tube fastener and tighten to 11 N•m (97 in. Ibs).
  3. Remove the other water pump inlet tube fastener.
  4. Apply Mopar 04318031AC (or equivalent) to fastener thread.
  5. Install the water pump inlet tube fastener and tighten to 11 N•m (97 in. Ibs).
  6. Wait 10 minutes after last fastener is installed prior to pressure testing the coolant system or running the engine to allow for prescribed blue thread locking adhesive cure time.

I just got notice that there is a recall on the water pump inlet tube. They will pull the bolts and put thread locker on to prevent them from backing out. Mine is a 2021.

Go to the “2.0L Top off frequency” thread and you’ll find many many examples.

Mine needed an entirely new inlet elbow. Thread sealant wasn’t fixing it.
And there’s this new service campaign that I found in my owner’s site.

Also, yes the turbo is liquid cooled with its own water jacket. As well as the exhaust manifold. This is why your coolant reaches operating temperature in no time at all. Not like an old cast iron 4.0L that takes a drive across a county to reach operating temp on a cold day.
