This is a picture from the official Dutch Jeep site (www.jeep.nl) of the 2.0L Turbo.

Can anyone confirm this has or does not have the mild hybrid system? Europe is supposed to get it without. Not sure if the picture is accurate to what we will eventually get in Europe.

Confirm NOT equipped with the mild hybrid system. But I found this on the website you posted. I looked up wrangler engine options and found the 2.8 diesel with mild hybrid system. The under body shot is Of the battery pack. Interesting. Will they do the 2.8 here in the states or the 3.0??

Why on earth is the eTorque/BSG not available in Europe?

The 2.0l MGU is water cooled. And as a sealed unit. As you can see in the other pic from the 2.8 crd

Hi Brandon,
The signaled underbody shot is from the JK and is the skid plate for the gastank (="bodemplaat").
The 2.8L turbodiesel is the actual engine available in Europe on the JK.
The JL will have the 2,2L (4 cyl.) diesel in Europe and the 3.0L (V6) diesel in US.

To BillyHW: i find it mind blowing too that Europe would not get the mild hybrid system on the 2.0L when everybody thought this was made for this market... i do not understand their strategy there.

That’s the JK info you posted, not the JL.

That’s correct, supposedly no BSG for the Euro JL, but you will get the 2.2L diesel found in the Export Cherokee.

Who said/thought the BSG was for the Export market?

The BSG has one single role to play, and it’s for the US... Get CAFE numbers up, and get credit as a mild hybrid. The later being the most important part of the equation, and without which the N.Am. Wrangler wouldn’t have it either.

No other market charges FCA millions of dollars a year for not meeting MPG numbers, the BSG is for the domestic market, not export.

Thank you for confirming. I thought so.
Now if all this gets confirmed than we might get the lightest and most powerful combo available?!
I can only suppose the 4 cyl without BSG nor the extra battery pack for it, to be much lighter than the V6?
That leaves more space underneath for other stuff like extra gas or water tanks too.

But not having the BSG might give me a turbo lag concern... though I must say I have tried several similar engine setups in other “cars” and was very pleasantly surprised.

It is a twin scroll turbo, not a conventional single turbo. They are noted for the lack of turbo lag, so should not be a problem in combination with the BSG.

That’s what my kid educated me on this weekend. Twin scroll. No lag. I have so much to learn.
