I've always used straight non-diluted. Every single vehicle I worked on in the Army used straight non-diluted and they nor I ever had issue and had much better protection. The bottles used to show the protection for 100%
I can remember when they first came out with the 50/50 mix for folks who couldn't mix water and coolant and yet were allowed near cars.....

The manufacturer can charge significantly more per gallon by selling you water.

I've always purchased full strength and a gallon of distilled water.

If one mixes themselves, 2 gallons using concentrate would be $12.58+$1.00=$13.58

It's $20.76 for 2 gallons of 50/50

A 50% convenience tax.

Amazon. Got mine in 5 days. $19

My local AutoZone also has the correct orange OAT for American Chrysler products for $19.
Peak orange? Zerex G30 looks to be an option as well. Purple in color, and meets the Chrysler specs.

So, explain to me why you can't just use distilled water and antifreeze? What is so special about this stuff?

I'm in southern Louisiana, so I don't worry about freezing. So, I use distilled water and Water Wetter. Never had a problem with any cars, including a Pontiac G8 GT that I had for 170k miles.

Im gonna say no on the Valvoline Zerex. The MS number on the spec sheet is wrong, even though it’s OAT type. Look for MS-90032
Jeep Wrangler JL 2.0L Coolant on National Backorder He's got a point there

I really wish I knew more @Heimkehr . It’s so confusing on which OAT types are the right MS or not. Why the manual specifically says OAT / MS90032 is a mystery. Will a different OAT cause the turbo to blow up!? Who knows….

A few OAT types at autozone have the 90032 number on them, some don’t. :headbang:
Probably comes from Unicorn pee or something.

It's $18 for a gallon of 50/50. I just don't need to try to save $6 to find out later that it did matter after xxx,xxx miles. And if you need more than that you have bigger issues.

Impossible to find the 90032 met by the third party yet. But the 12106 it replaces is referenced on most all OAT’s. I’m not sure what Chrysler changed with 90032 from 12106. I would not be surprised if it was merely the die to prevent service techs from mixing HOAT and OAT in a vehicle by mistake.

When it stops pissing it out all over the ground I’ll be more concerned with meeting Chrysler’s exact spec.

Anyone look up what Alfa or Fiat require? They’ve been using this engine longer. Probably put the bolts in correctly also.

That's what I was thinking, too. There's nothing special about coolant. It transfers heat and provides a tad bit of lubrication for the water pump. That's it.

Distilled water and Water Wetter/Purple Ice. It's all I've run since around 2002.
