I know the owners manual says to use 91 or higher with the 2.0 engine. It also says that you can use 87 octane. I’ve just started using 87 after 1500 miles and I’m finding I get better gas mileage with using 87. So far I’ve encountered no issues with 87. So my question is what octane is everyone using and do you see improved mileage using 87 or any issues using 87?

93 octane (no 91 in TX, in general), as I bought the 2.0 for the power increase when driving, not fuel efficiency. You also should see better mileage with 91+, as well. If you're seeing better with 87, it's just coincidence, and also why looking at mpg of a tank or two is worthless, as there are too many variables in play from wind to elevation changes to traffic to you name it.

93. Unless I'm in a real rural part of the state then 91.

At 1300 miles in a stock Rubicon Unlimited I'm getting around 14.5 with 87 octane and 15.5 to 16 with 91 octane. The computer reads about 1 to 1.5mph high

Bummer... I thought I was going to see some Jeeps running thru beaches and oceans! :headbang:

Guess you meant octane lol
Appears to be spell check error...lol. Tons of 2.0s for sale in NorCal so I am curious what people are seeing out there with the new engine.

I use 93 octane, most of my cars have needed it besides my old TJ so I’m used to paying up!

19.9. with 92. 2-door Rubicon.
It's cold here and I let it run so the heated seats are warm when I get in.

93 here in the DMV, averaging around 19.5-20MPG with mostly 70 and spurts higher. Typical congested traffic. Long trips I'll get 22-24+ calculated. Same as everyone else, dash reads 1-1.5 higher. I hand calc after every fill. Fairly consistent with my driving style.

91 octane ethanol free, though as cold as it has been could probably run 87 with no issues. Would definitely not try 87 in the summer. Averaging 20 or so with warm up time most days.

Mostly run 91 or 93. The price difference at my local Sunoco between 91 and 93 is usually about $0.20 so I'll use the 91 when I can. 93 if I fill up on base. Will they run on 87 absolutely but the jeep will account for the lower octane and if there are knock events due to it, will retard timing to safely operate the engine.

I started out using 87, but She seems to like 91 better, when gas is around $3.80/gal to start with $0.20/gal difference it's not much of an added cost. Typically getting 20-22 mpg on mixed driving. Short commute (8 mi ea way) so it doesn't make much sense to scrimp on fuel grade.
