First jeep, first turbo, first time spending over $30K on a vehicle. Doesn't make sense to spend top dollar on a Rubicon and put the cheapest fuel in it. Thankful for this post though, I don't know anything about turbos. Will stay with 93

Had my '20 Recon, 2.0 0ne year this month. The dealer filled it with 87 octane when I left and I've run it ever since. It now has 4,700 miles and last week a round trip to the Smoky Mtn. avg 26.3 mpg. I have never been a fan of 4 cyl but the 2.0 is a game changer, IMO.

I used to put in 91, now 87. The 2.0T seems to get better mileage on 87, no ethanol.

In my 2019 JLU Sahara 2.0 Turbo I used the recommended 91 but after 4 months I tried the Reg. 87 I noticed zero MPG difference. 22 MPG that was even after changing Stock tires for BFG 33's and Spacer kit.

On my New JLU 2021 Rubicon 2.0 Turbo. I turn my ESS off first thing. I am still on the first Tank Dealership filled for me and at 125 miles on it in almost one month.

I have 18 MPG right now with Toyo Open Country 35's and Mopar 2.0 lift.

That's still during my break-in period that I am varying speeds between 2000 and 3000rpm and a couple of hard throttle accelerations in the mix. I am old school so I will break mine in for 500 miles.

I think I will end up with maybe 19 to 20 MPG when all said and done.

I know the owners manual says to use 91 or higher with the 2.0 engine. It also says that you can use 87 octane. Iā€™ve just started using 87 after 1500 miles and Iā€™m finding I get better gas mileage with using 87. So far Iā€™ve encountered no issues with 87. So my question is what octane is everyone using and do you see improved mileage using 87 or any issues using 87?
91-93 no ethanol

Have used 87 since new and seeing just shy of 21mpg while suburban commuting. 21 JLU 80th 3k miles. No complaints. Put 17.5 gal of 93 in it today. See if thereā€™s any noticeable difference with power/mileage after a couple tanks of ā€œfast gasā€ as my 7 yr old son calls it.

19 sport 2.0 E Torque. Iā€™ve been using both for awhile and for the most part MPG IS THE SAME. However biggest difference is in power delivered. On 87 thereā€™s a decent delay when initially punching it. The 93 is much quicker. if You arenā€™t hard on accelerating I would save the coin. if you drive aggressive I would put in premium as the engine will probably fair better long term. If youā€™re looking for best MPG keep it under 70. I float between 65-68 and get around 24. Thatā€™s with 70-30 highway city.

Only had my 2021 80th Edition for a little less than 2 months. My first Wrangler and first turbo. I use 91 and non ethanol, when I can find it, because there is none here locally. I see about a 10% mpg increase with the non ethanol.

Costco (Kirkland) 92 octane.

Side note: I perceived an increase in pep/throttle response once I refueled from the dealer supplied tank of gas, whatever that was.
You have to realize that the engine ECU is learning the driving conditions and remapping your parameters. I wouldn't trust a base line for the first couple thousand miles. Then whatever that looks like, is what I would base your performance expectations (trying different octanes).

Assuming no alcohol in the fuel, 87 (R+M)/2 octane and 91 (R+M)/2 octane gasolines have the same energy density. Some vehicles may get better fuel economy with higher octane because the ECS does not pull out as much spark timing. But the 91 octane fuel has the same BTU content as 87 octane.

in my area, the difference in price between 87 octane and 91 is more like 80 cents per gallon.

I started out using 87, but She seems to like 91 better, when gas is around $3.80/gal to start with $0.20/gal difference it's not much of an added cost. Typically getting 20-22 mpg on mixed driving. Short commute (8 mi ea way) so it doesn't make much sense to scrimp on fuel grade.

How is the difference between 2019 2.0 Turbo versus 2021 2.0T? The '19 2.0T has eTorque while '21 does not, correct? Which one do you prefer more?

Running 91, just seems to run better, 3rd fill-up. Getting 17 MPG city, and 23 MPG hwy. Just got back from Yosemite National Park, it loves the mountain's! 8500 feet or sea level, runs the same.
