2.0 Etorque 48V battery not charging

Update at bottom, need a new 12V Battery

2018 JLUR with 2.0 and E-Torque. For the last few days I have gotten the warning that the start stop was not available because the battery was charging. I see 14 volts when driving and 12.1 with the vehicle off for the main 12V system so I know the alt/generator is functioning in that regard. Apparently the 48V battery is not charging though. No codes or other warnings.

anything I should be worried about? Maybe this Florida heat is making that 48V battery go into a safety mode?

Let me know if you think of anything I should check.

Also, I have checked to disconnected plugs, loose or bad fuses, and any signs of obvious damage.

Don’t have an answer but curious to know how we can check the 48v battery. Might not hurt to pull the main battery and have it checked, 12.1v seems a little low.

Yea.... us old guys got lots more to worry about....like, erectile dysfunction, nocturia, incontinence, memory loss, vision loss, teeth falling out, bunions, Alzheimer's and more and ... more.... No friggin time to worry about a 48v battery or getting killed thanks to no seat belt use.... or if the transportation fails to start.

I recently ran into an issue where my ESS was “not ready”. Turned out to be a bad solar sensor and AC control module. There a multiple reasons why the system won't charge or wont be ready. Have the DTCs pulled and find out.

12.1 is very low. It’s your main battery that’s the problem. You’ll likely never know if the 48V battery is charging or not.

12.1 is with the vehicle engine off and what the offroad pages show the voltage to be, meaning there were some accessories running. 14 volts while the vehicle is running. Still low?

You bet, I wasn't sure myself. Still trying to figure out the intricacies and differences between ESS and eTorque. Keep us posted if a new main battery fixes it.

UPDATE!
Had the battery load tested and it came back with only 460 CCA. So the 12V battery was dying and the jeep was using the 48v to start the engine.

Purchased a new H7 Yellow top from Advanced Auto Parts and that has seemed to cure the issue. Now however the 8.4 UConnect is missing some functionality (advanced climate control, XM, and Offroad pages). Other threads say that will come back after a couple of starts.
