Recently did a 2” lift myself with an experienced mechanic buddy. Lift went great and been driving a few times (100 miles) with no issues. Driving on 33’s. Went out today and I got multiple error codes. ABS failure, ESC warnings, service 4wd, and check engine light.

After doing a bit of research, it seems the speed sensor cable was potentially damaged during the lift. Either stretched, or otherwise. After closer inspection, it looks like my front right speed sensor cable has a slight slice through the outside rubber and I can see the wires inside.

Could this be the culprit? It’s just odd because I have driven for a week with no problems. Anyone have experience with this? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Definite possibility. You'll get all those codes if a speed sensor goes out.

I think you sliced the insulation but not the wires, then water got in there and started corroding the wire which messed up your speed sensor reading.

Thanks. I figured as much. Anyone ever do an install on one of these? There are plenty of videos on doing one on a JK. Is the process pretty much the same?

Not exactly. I had a wheel speed sensor go out and then it functioned again, so the error codes you're seeing looks very familiar. The L/R wheel speed sensors were swapped to pinpoint where the problem was. It never happened again. I'm guessing it was just a loose connector that happened to be reseated when the sensors were swapped.

Just as an update…

I ended up cutting the wire where the split was. Stripped it and re-connected it with some solder heat shrink water proof connectors. Added an additional heat shrink wrap. All the error codes immediately went away. I am happy I identified the problem. Thanks to those that wrote in this thread. It’s a temporary fix, as I would prefer a new cable.

Nice work. You or someone else had posted a similar problem a week or so ago...looks like it got pinched?

Most likely got pinched or sliced during the install. Apparently, it happens a ton during off roading too. It looks like one of my wires was split. Glad it wasn’t anything more than that.
