A vacuum leak would raise idle. Take a look at the 2 vacuum lines that go into the intake. Think one is for the brake booster and the other for EVAP? A couple of people mentioned theirs were loose and not snapped in fully. I'd take it in to the dealer if that's not it. Good Luck.

See post #37 of this thread.

Mine is doing the same thing. Idle fine for 10 minutes, then the ESS warning light comes on. Finally threw a CEL light today. Vacuum lines are secure. Guess Iā€™ll be taking it in again.

Iā€™m lost. My CEL just went out. This is the weirdest thing...

I dropped by the dealership to have the service advisor read the code. We let it idle for about 10 minutes then like clockwork, the idle rpm picked up to about 1200 and the ESS warning light illuminated. It kicked out a high idle code. Any idea what could cause this? Vacuum leak? Dropping it so an actual tech can look at it next week.

Good news is the service advisor saw it happen and the problem is repeatable. What was the actual code?

I didnā€™t ask. Spent too much time explaining to her that itā€™s not normal for a warning light to come on. And how an alternator works. And how the ESS isnā€™t engaged, wait for it, when the engine is IDLING. Iā€™ll get the code next week when I drop it off.

Replaced the PVC valve. Didnā€™t help. Now they say they are waiting for a software update scheduled to come out in 6 weeks. Weā€™ll see. Still drives fine.

Every time I read this thread I wish there was a way to rig up an aux switch to create a high idle. I would use this for winching, charging, etc.

It's not an aux switch, but all of the Tazer programmers have "winch mode" which allows you to push a button and raise the idle to 2000 RPM.
