19 JLU suspension questions

hello all,

I’m new to the forum and to the Jeep so please forgive the noob questions.

We got a 19 JLU sport S. It’s the wife’s vehicle and of course she is looking to get a nice stance with a nice wheel and tire combo.

I’m thinking for now to install a set of rubicon take offs (shocks/springs) and installing a set of 17x9’s and possibly 33’s or 34’s. I don’t to cause to much stress on the drivetrain and I don’t want to regear which I hear that the JL doesn’t require a regear on 35’s but I’m not 100 sure on that.

So essentially looking for advice And maybe some pictures.

The Jeep is the wife’s daily but it will be seeing some off road time here and there. We live in New Mexico so there are a few off road areas we will probably hit up. Nothing too crazy obviously just something to have some fun in.

Rubicon suspension, 275 70 18 Ko2’s no rub or anything. Only thing I noticed is a little higher and more firm. Best investment for the money.

Installed the Rubicon takeoffs springs and shocks on my 2018 JLU sport. The Rubicon springs numbers are 68253591aa, 68253592aa Rear and 68253661ac and 68253662ac Front. Along with the springs and shocks I also installed the Mopar 2 inch lift lower control arms number (82215398AB) and a Daystar 3/4 inch lift kit (DAYKJ09181BK) and due to the problems with the track bar welds on the JL I also installed Rusty’s front track bar mount brace (RC-TB7500-JL). Note: My jeep was not on the recall list but I installed the track bar mount due to I was under the jeep and with the springs removed it was easier to install. The change out took about 5 hours and when the work was completed I had the jeep realigned. With the new lower control arms installed the caster came in at 6. The Jeep tracks straight and steered very well on the way home. Here are the height numbers before and after the install.

Before Right front 37 1/8 Left front 37 1/8 Right rear 37 1/2 Left rear 37 5/8

After Right front 39 1/4 Left front 39 1/4 Right rear 39 1/4 Left rear 39 3/8

for about 2 inches of lift. With just the Rubicon s springs the lift would have been about 1 1/4 inches a little lower then I wanted. This was a good way to go for a 2 inch lift using mostly Mopar parts. $200.00 for the Rubicon takeoffs, $50.00 for the Daystar 3/4 lift kit, $70.00 for the lower control arms and $100 for the track bar mount for a total of $425.00 plus $85.00 for the alignment. If I did not added the track bar mount it would have cost $325.00 plus alignment. I have now driven the Jeep about 2000 miles and I am still very happy with the ride and handling. Next step is new tires and rims. I still have the 31 inch tires on the jeep

Thanks for the reply and sorry for my late response. The work you did definitely shows quite a bit of difference in height. Definitely worth looking into for sure.
