My 2018 3.6 just hit 17,500. It started a noise like lifter/rocker rattling under acceleration uphill. Then it started it on flat ground at a take off. Took it immediately to the dealer. They determined that it has burned a quart of oil in 3,400 miles. Anyone else had this experience?

UPDATE:
The dealer could not replicate the noise so they topped it off with oil and sent me on the way.

My 2015 Willy's had the motor opened twice in under 48k miles, sad to see it go but the JL is much smoother on this old back.

Well... 2018... sorry but that's the guinea-pig year.

3.6 has had perpetual lifter/rocker issues. Goes back to the start of the 3.6L. Was hoping the upgraded version would have sorted this out.

Quality control is where the issue might be.
It really sucks that they will likely have it the next few months. There is a long process(FCA inspections and such) if they have to tear the engine apart.

FCA Quality control blows chunks regardless of year, lol. My 2019 is a POS riddled with issues, including the good old lifter/rcoker issue!

Sounds like you're getting a new 3.6 to me. I just bought the MaxCare 6/85k warranty right before I rolled 12,000 miles for reasons like this. I'm about to lift and go 35-37, I sincerely hope that issues like this won't be blamed on bigger tires if they do come up.

I'm guessing they added a quart and the engine is quiet again?

I wouldn't say your engine is dead unless there are compression issues. Unfortunately many car manufacturers say burning a quart every 1,000 miles is, "normal".

Have yet to hear what they decided.

Could be likely but haven't heard from the dealer yet.
