I feel your pain.... Our 2018 JL Rubicon currently has been in the shop for the last 2 weeks getting a new transmission (2500 miles). Just found out today that it will need additional parts that were faulty from the factory. Still waiting to hear from Jeep Customer Care after more than a week and repeated phone calls. Not getting a warm feeling from Jeep or this experience.
Can you send us your case number in a direct message? I want to take a look at this and notify the owning Case Specialist.

The ZF 8 speeds have a normally good rep. Hopefully it's just an anomaly. Still sucks though.

One problem being apparently they are Chrysler-built (in the US) 8 speeds under license from ZF. I'd rather have ZF actually building them than Chrysler copying them.

Had similar issue with our 2014 Honda mini van. Replaced transmission after going to 2 different dealerships. Now ~100k miles and doing well. Best wishes:).

newer DON"T mean better!!! the tranny build is controlled by FCA $$$ + prolly built to their spec + price point!!! buyers of new designs or redesigns are Beta testers + IMO that is NOT acceptable at todays prices. i would want a buy back, but NEVER buy slush box aka any type of automatic tranny!!

That's why they have a warranty.
If a part is bad they usually fail right away, get it replaced and move on.
A jeep is a tool and tools break, as long as Jeep is fixing it and it gets fixed in the first couple of times in the shop.
It will never be a Buy Back. In most cases it would have to go in for the same repair 4 or more times, be out of service for at least 30 days the first year to qualify for a Buy Back.
Hopefully it will be fixed and you'll never be back for more than an oil change.

AND, at this point I would ask them to extend the warranty, give you some free oil changes and maybe the Paint Protection Package
to make the Jeep more "livable" again.

JLU Rubicon has been into Dealership with Transmission/ engine light issue.
Dealer re flashed Transmission and said good to go.
Next day Jeep would not engage into gear. move transfer case from 2H to 4H back to 2H drove to Dealer.
Received call next Day and the are being shipped a new transmission.
Not feeling very comfortable with this vehicle in the Wyoming Back Country without cell phone coverge.
Feeling more Mall Rated than Trail Rated for this "NEW" Rubicon.
I think a buy back is in order to make it right.

I had the same problem. Then I shut the drivers door and it works great , it is a built in safety issue. But I have 3700 on mine with not one problem.
I didn't know what was going on.
