Do you want to know why people buy EV’s?
-less moving parts
-low cost of ownership
-silent
-less maintenance
-performance
-less time spent going to gas stations
-ev tax credits

do you what’s last on the list for most EV buyers? The environmental impact.
Lots of residual mental associations with Hollywood’s early flirtation with the Prius, a truly breakthrough vehicle in the annals of automotive electrification.

Why did they make this? Just do the all electric Wrangler and no this isn't a Wrangler
exactly! The forum warning about no politics is aggravating. Because the push to ev is based on exactly that. 90 percent of people do not want ev
Who can overland into the bush with an Ev??? Ford will make a killing when jeep kills off gas

I think they went this route so not to tarnish the Wrangler brand.
Stellantis is hedging it’s bets on BEV (see link to Detroit News below) while Ford is all-in. BEV is something that Stellantis cannot afford to bury their head in the sand about. They have to have at least some economically viable BEV vehicles in their fleet in order to meet EU regulatory requirements. They also recently exited their joint venture in China, a market where BEVs are poised to dominate and where the China-originated high-tech know-how in the BEV space might potentially get locked up and made unavailable to non-Chinese automakers because the CCP decides these technologies should be “state secrets.” The only way for multinationals to fight against the trade protectionist tendencies of the CCP is to offer products that are superior to domestic manufacturers so that the consumer continues to demand the foreign-made products. California is banning new ICE sales starting in 2035.

The question is not why Jeep did this, but why more companies are not being as aggressive as Jeep (walking the walk while downplaying the talk whereas GM which seems to be mostly talking) is about electrification.

Thanks for sharing the link with us. It’s a new ball game and we best be right there or else…

We can agree on that he is quite entertaining. Now if you want an odd type of comedy, look up Anthony Jeselnik...
Odd? Think you meant genius!

(though I'm honestly not sure if his intentionally offensive style would still fly with most anyone these days)

I’ve said this several times on this forum.

They cannot and will not ever build a fully electric wrangler.

Putting the electric motor in front of the transmission is the only way to keep it a wrangler and it’s drivetrain. That is not efficient enough for a full electric vehicle.
idk how much proof of concept is but isn’t Magneto 2.0 supposed to be just that?

That would never make it to market. It’s basically a glorified garage built EV.

All it does is make people think stellantis has exciting products on the horizon.

EV wrangler with a manual would be incredible, but it would have about 125-150 mile range at the most.

You can’t put the motor in front of the trans. Too much drivetrain loss for a full EV.
