I just paid a dealership in FL $500 to replace the relay for the same thing! My pics are the same as everyone else! Said it could not have possible come from factory that way! @JeepCares ...please help me out. This relay short is EVERYWHERE but FL says it was my problem.

I urge everyone here to force their dealerships to examine the starter relay connections with you as a witness. I just heard back from @JeepCares that mine will not be covered because the dealership reported “modifications, no warranty”. I have lights people. Oh no!!! . The Magnusson Moss act forbids this behavior and I plan to file more formally. In the meantime BEFORE you get stuck with the $600 bill swing by your dealership and make them check starter relay connections. At least that way you have it on file!

Took mine in today for ESS/ESC Light coming on. Will post pic when I have the paperwork in hand and the error lights don’t illuminate anymore—both did this simultaneously. VHRs trotted I needed brakes checked or replaced. Took it in at 12K miles, been a problem early on, late 2018, was hit or miss until about 2mos ago. Happened within the first 5mins of driving. MTF.

Sadly, I can report that the fixes in the pic do not work. Yes ESS and ESC lights both came on as I left the dealer. The only reason I didn’t leave it there is because they had it all day and I picked up my jeep after hours. If they had bothered to drive it 100yds and press the brake the error lights would have come on. Grrr.

Dealership ordering a new vacuum pump. They’ll install it at my appointment along with my replacement rear seat fold-down latch cable.

So I still have zero relief from my service start/stop system fault. I got @JeepCares involved and they elevated my issue and gave me a case number. I had one conversation with the FCA representative and she said she is having issues getting in contact with the dealer and haven’t heard from her in over 2 weeks. This is ridiculous at this point. I think I may just bring it back in so I can lemon law it. VA law says they get 3 attempts for the same issue. Next trip in will be #3.

Zero confidence in Jeep or my service department.

Check the starter relays...they are coming our of factory bad and blaming the buyer.

My Jeep is back at a different dealer (the one where we originally bought it) for the 3rd consecutive attempt at repairing whatever is the cause of the ESS issue. I just spoke with the service manager and he says they have a call out to corporate for further instruction. The batteries are fully charged and he mentioned possibly the hose “fix” but doesn’t want to throw parts at a problem until Jeep verifies the solution. This is day 7 going into 8 without an operable vehicle. Just passed the 2 month mark and 2000 miles.

Check the starter relays, they are coming out of the factory touching and then blaming the buyer after they burn out.

Hi jill b,
We're truly sorry to hear about this! We understand why this may be concerning. We would like to have this documented and looked into further. At your earliest convenience, please send us a private message with your VIN, Current mileage, and the name of your dealer.

We bought a new 2019 JLUR Friday 4/26. Drove it home approx 175 miles. All good. Then Saturday we started pairing phones, iPod etc. and the uconnect system froze up. Looked up possible solutions, called Jeep customer service and they were no help so we disconnected the battery and reconnected it, and it fixed it. Then we were driving the next day and the ACC and forward collision warning lights came on, and those systems wouldn't work. This was on Sunday 4/28. So we took it in Monday morning 4/29, dealer said "camera" was out, but also found code C008E, ECU Internal Performance and they found Driver Assistance Module internally open. They said it had a short. So they had to order a part and we took it home in the meantime, because it was still drivable. Tuesday (today, 4/30) I called and asked the service rep if this was anything that would be a problem driving out of town, I was going on a trip Wednesday by myself and didn't want to get stranded, I don't like the sound of a "short" in my car. She said no, it only affected the driver assistance programs like the adaptive cruise, forward collision etc. So I go to run errands around town, picked up my mom, got a few blocks away and stopped at a stop sign. The auto start/stop thing went off like it does when you stop, but would not start back up. I got the "stop safely vehicle will shut off soon" warning, but at that point, it was already done. The tow truck driver couldn't even get it in neutral, he had to use skids to get on/off the tow truck. It has 379 miles on it an I have had it less than a week. Very troubling, especially after reading all this on here. I don't know if I can ever trust it again, or even a different one. Thinking I made a huge mistake. This is our 2nd jeep and we had issues with the 1st one as well.

Check the starter relays, they are coming out of the factory touching and then blaming the buyer after they burn out. WE got stranded IN FL and they charged me $600 even though they had a file on the issue.

I have a 19 JLUR with 2500 miles, and wouldn’t you know it, my light came on yesterday on my way to Breckenridge to finally wheel this thing and get in some fly fishing. Is it safe to go on a trail with this system needing serviced? I don’t want to get stuck in the middle of nowhere.
