I have a brand new wrangler that on my very first startup after bringing it home from the dealer was greeted with a 'service start/stop system'. Pretty annoying. I popped the fuse box and found a similar situation. I haven't attempted to fix it yet.

I just got mine back from the dealer and this was the problem. I posted about it in this thread: "Stop Safely Vehicle Will Shut Off Soon"

EDIT* Yeah, totally NOT fixed.

So I still have zero relief from my service start/stop system fault. I got @JeepCares involved and they elevated my issue and gave me a case number. I had one conversation with the FCA representative and she said she is having issues getting in contact with the dealer and haven’t heard from her in over 2 weeks. This is ridiculous at this point. I think I may just bring it back in so I can lemon law it. VA law says they get 3 attempts for the same issue. Next trip in will be #3.

Zero confidence in Jeep or my service department.

I got a call from my claim “manager”. She was extremely rude and unhelpful. Now waiting for a “Supervisor” to call me.

I don’t think I am asking too much here. Last month I bought 2 JLU to the tune of about $90,000. Is it wrong of me to want them to work? I don’t think so. And if I wanted attitude I don’t need to pay $90k for it I can go to work for that.

I don’t think Jeep actually cares. @JeepCares

I just got back from the dealer with my Jeep. It was in because the ESS wasn’t working. It kept saying battery charging.

They said my aux. battery was dead and they replaced it. They said the battery needs to charge and it will give me the same battery charging Warning for the ESS.

Well it’s doing that. I drove the Jeep for 1 hour and also let it sit running for an hour. The warning is still saying Battery Charging. Is this right? How long should it take to charge?

Thanks!!!

Anyone suffering from this— there is a flash update now available for the Start stop Hybrid control module. It appears to have fixed it for me.

No mine would:
When Jeep was at normal operating temp and in park for over 4 minutes the RPM would climb from 800 to about 1150 shortly followed by the pictured fault. If I let it happen 3 time the Check Engine Light would come on.

Ok so then I assume my issue would not be fixed with the update. Thanks!

I had a number of issues, that they tried to address. After replacing the vacuum hoses I was still getting the start/stop warning, check engine light & high idling. The first fix was supposed to be a software update for this, however the problem persisted. They finally found two loose ground bolts on mine that they believe were causing the electrical issues. So far I'm a couple hundred miles in and have not had any further issues.

We bought a new 2019 JLUR Friday 4/26. Drove it home approx 175 miles. All good. Then Saturday we started pairing phones, iPod etc. and the uconnect system froze up. Looked up possible solutions, called Jeep customer service and they were no help so we disconnected the battery and reconnected it, and it fixed it. Then we were driving the next day and the ACC and forward collision warning lights came on, and those systems wouldn't work. This was on Sunday 4/28. So we took it in Monday morning 4/29, dealer said "camera" was out, but also found code C008E, ECU Internal Performance and they found Driver Assistance Module internally open. They said it had a short. So they had to order a part and we took it home in the meantime, because it was still drivable. Tuesday (today, 4/30) I called and asked the service rep if this was anything that would be a problem driving out of town, I was going on a trip Wednesday by myself and didn't want to get stranded, I don't like the sound of a "short" in my car. She said no, it only affected the driver assistance programs like the adaptive cruise, forward collision etc. So I go to run errands around town, picked up my mom, got a few blocks away and stopped at a stop sign. The auto start/stop thing went off like it does when you stop, but would not start back up. I got the "stop safely vehicle will shut off soon" warning, but at that point, it was already done. The tow truck driver couldn't even get it in neutral, he had to use skids to get on/off the tow truck. It has 379 miles on it an I have had it less than a week. Very troubling, especially after reading all this on here. I don't know if I can ever trust it again, or even a different one. Thinking I made a huge mistake. This is our 2nd jeep and we had issues with the 1st one as well.

My Jeep is back at a different dealer (the one where we originally bought it) for the 3rd consecutive attempt at repairing whatever is the cause of the ESS issue. I just spoke with the service manager and he says they have a call out to corporate for further instruction. The batteries are fully charged and he mentioned possibly the hose “fix” but doesn’t want to throw parts at a problem until Jeep verifies the solution. This is day 7 going into 8 without an operable vehicle. Just passed the 2 month mark and 2000 miles.

Oh no...that is not good. Document EVERYTHING! That's what we did on our 2014 Grand Cherokee, went to arbitration over it and they had to buy it back. Keep up with how many days you are without a vehicle and all the calls you make.

Oh yeah, I started that paper trail on day one. My FCA case worker seems helpful in that regard. Got me approved for a rental when the dealership refused a loaner. My state lemon law is 4 attempts and/or 30 cumulative days without service. Jeep is on the clock.

Good luck! To both (all) of us. Not good having problems hanging over your head, no confidence that you can go places and not break down.

Hi jill b,
We're truly sorry to hear about this! We understand why this may be concerning. We would like to have this documented and looked into further. At your earliest convenience, please send us a private message with your VIN, Current mileage, and the name of your dealer.
