Had an intermittent “service shifter” message flashing on my dash today . I found the wire harness in the front passenger wheel arch was touching the egr tube . Moved the harness behind the heat shield and solved the issue .

We were on icehouse road 5 miles from the rubicon when it started flashing on the screen . I pulled over and started pulling on the different harness clusters while my wife watched to see if the message flashed . The wire harness was just barely touching the egr tube .

It's scary how much shit is crammed under the hood and how much has to be insulated from the heat...looks like it's just asking for trouble.

@GGSLE21B - just wanted to say thanks for the post and photos! My 21 eco diesel started this error w/ 250 miles on it. I too found the harness outside of the heat shield. I tucked it back in and it has been good to go. I might take it another step and wrap the harness w/ some heatshield tape.

Thanks!

Can you guys please explain exactly where that harness is and how to get to it? Do we have to pull the wheel well liner?

I'm having the same problem and checking for all reported possible solutions.

Thanks.

Finally crawled under mine today to address this. My harness was touching and you could tell there was some contact but it wasn't close to cutting any wires yet. I didn't feel like pulling the wheel and liner so did my best to address it from underneath. There is a zip tie that hooks onto a stud so I pulled that off then used a small screwdriver to release the zip tie and slide it down a little, then snugged it up again and put it back on the stud. Now it's closer to the body and not rubbing anymore. My zip tie was like the other posts, closer to the center of the wrapped area and I just moved it down(harness up) to eliminate some of the slack.
