Has anyone ever had this light turn on before (service axle lockers)? The lockers obviously don’t work and I have no idea what is going on. I’ve checked all the wiring and plugs and all seems good.

I dropped it off earlier today at the dealer, but hope they don’t blame the tires and RK lift on the issue, as it seems to be electrical.

Hi aerosynch,

We are glad to hear that you are currently working with your dealer to have this concern resolved. Please send us a PM if you need additional assistance while in service.

I have the exact same problem. It looks like this is related to a failure in the locker actuator. The problem is this part is heavily back ordered. In my area alone there is 33 parts on order. I suspect Jeep is well aware this is a faulty part as no one is willing to give a ETA on delivery. When I contacted customer care I was blown away that they would be willing to tell a customer there is no info and no replacement time frame.

Now I have a brand new 2018 Jeep Rubicon in the middle of summer and I have no lockers. Take it to the dealer and hope they are able to get it fixed for you quicker than what I'm looking at.

The same thing just happened to mine just after they updated the PCM software due to a recall. Been at the dealer for 5 days now trying to diagnose the problem. Has yours been repaired yet?

Come to think of it, this actually happened after my update as well. This is still not repaired on my end. Both Jeep and my dealer are unable to provide any type of ETA on a replacement part. My dealer is stating the part needing to be replaced is 68430081-AA Actuator 21-101-016.

Wow. Very interesting. Are they letting you drive it until the part arrives?

JLUR - Ordered 12/22/2017
I have the same problem. I have a JLUR - manual so no recall notice/PCM update and took it into the dealer on June 26, 2018. After two days they diagnosed the problem as a faulty rear actuator. I was able to take it home and continue to drive as the parts are on order. They told me to call back in two months. Called yesterday and the dealer informed me they were in 31st place on the backlog for the parts with no expected delivery date. Manufacturer hasn't given any info on when they expect to manufacture the parts/deliver.

I've only used the lockers once while off-roading in Sedona (March 2018) with no issues. I noticed the service locker light flickering at first and then a few minutes later it just stayed on (June 2018). The problem came about while driving on the highway (2H ~75 mph).

Only mods are front bumper/winch/rock rails so nothing that would affect the lockers/warranty concerns with only 5,000 miles on it. Hopefully Jeep plans on remedying the situation considering it has been 2 months without being able to use my Rubicon to its full potential.

So strange. My service adviser told me the Jeep "field rep" is looking into it for a fix, but I assume it is the same actuator issue that is on backorder. Either way, I'd like to pick it up since the dealer has had it for a week.

I heard back from my dealer today and they have a "preliminary" estimate of Sept 26th for part delivery. The failure happened on Aug 4th for me and I refuse to drive the vehicle as I also have grinding noises from my front axle in 2H. My dealer has put my vehicle in as non-driveable, however, they are still showing a date of Sept 26th. This is the third issue I have had and the second major issue. I will be starting the process of a demand letter with my lawyer this week.

I would hope that everyone else that has this issue doesn't sit back and accept 2 months or more for replacement, this is clearly a known issue as the backorder locally is up to 33 vehicles.

For reference, the part in question is 68430081-AA Actuator 21-101-016.

Any update to your situation. I’m in the same boat. Dropping off tomorrow to dealer.

They have had it for almost 2 weeks now. Supposedly, they have a Jeep field rep at the dealership helping the shop determine what the problem is. The frustrating part is that nobody has a clue what is causing the light to come on. This morning they told me the light was off now but, of course, they haven't done anything to actually fix the problem. So the hunt for a fix continues...

Curious if this is limited to a specific build date timeframe? What's everyone's build date? Also, did this happen almost immediately for everyone, or after a certain number of miles?

How do you find the build date? Mine occurred immediately after doing the PCM software update that was part of a recall.

Build date is in your driver's door jamb.
