  1. And so the fun begins. FCA head of design teasing with camo wrap

They already said LA show debut and they are calling this "pre launch camo" so I think we still have a few more months of teasing to go. Besides, why show it now when there's plenty of 2017's and soon 2018 JK's to sell. No need to shoot themselves in the foot like that.
  2. Is the JL Wrangler going to be sufficient in a crash?

Offroading accidents aside and as "tough" as Wranglers are made to look, I don't see a lot of people driving them like "stunt cars" on the street (that's anecdotal of course). I think that placing the blame on the drivers is a bit of a stretch. There may be your occasional tough guy who thinks...
  3. JL/JLU wrangler length / size

I cant see them and hope they don't increase the JLU wheelbase and length any more than it already is if they want it to be a serious off roader and have even worse break over angles. Yes a lift and bigger tires will help and both seems like it may be improved in stock form but there are already...
  4. 2018 Wrangler Drops Camo, Shows Backup Camera, Roofline, Grab Handles, Signs of Foldable Windshield

All 2018 and forward vehicles are required to have backup cameras so it's no surprise. I'm not sure what the big issue is with the running boards. They look fine for factory ones to me. I'll probably swap them for steel side armor that actually protects the jeep. I'm not sure if you need to...
  5. Verified: Engine Start-Stop (ESS) Standard on 3.6L Pentastar 2018 Wrangler Engine

Any extra mpg is welcomed but I really wish it could be turned off by default and toggled only when you want. I assume it's that way by design bc of some EPA requirement(?)
  6. Will Diesel Wrangler be Affected by Jeep and Ram's Alleged Diesel Cheating?

All hope is not lost. This isn't like the VW situation since the EPA is not actually saying they have found cheating and the vehicles would have to be brought back or repaired. The EPA is just investigating and has so far only accused FCA of not disclosing all software that would be considered...
  7. 2018 Wrangler (JK) Info Thread - Ordering/Production

I bet 2018 JK isn't going to get anything different than the 2017. They've said it's only for a small period of time and just to fill in the transition space between the JK and JL. Why bother with new features or packages for not even a complete model year.
  8. 2017-18 Wrangler (JK, JL, JT) Toledo Assembly Plant Schedule

Any word on where the JT will be built? Will additional retooling have to be done when it launches or will the shut down for JL tooling take care of that?
  9. Bed length for the JT Wrangler pickup?

Yea agreed any Wrangler pickup will have to be a highly capable off roader. I am expecting basically a JL with a flat bed and such will not be as "hardcore" as a Ram 1500 so as to not cannibalize FCA sales.
  10. What is a mild hybrid Wrangler?

It's a win win for Jeep in many ways. Better MPG and off roading benefits especially since Wranglers spend most of their time in low RPM. As long as they can keep the cost down I'm open to it. Unfortunately based on the literature it seems to be planned only for the 4 door right now.
  11. 2019 Jeep Wrangler Pickup mule?

Awesome find man! I guess that answers where the spare tire will be mounted. It's really too bad the snow is acting as a second layer of camo lol.
  12. What is a mild hybrid Wrangler?

I'd like to see the electric part of the drivetrain sold basically as a rock crawling accessory. The low speed torque of an electric motor would be great for trailing and help to smooth out the amount of throttle needed to roll the tires over obstacles rather than having to stab into the gas and...
  13. Surprised There Are Not More Leaks

Yup and 2018 JKs. There's still a lot of JK sales they are after and besides a small group of us that are following every bit of info/rumor most of the general public has no idea they are even working on a new Wrangler.
  14. JK May Become "Wrangler Classic"

FCA has already confirmed it will overlap by 6 months. Whether it will be called a JK "Classic" remains to be seen but I bet it is simply a bunch of "editions" and essentially appearance packages, no powertrain/transmission changes that some are hoping. There's not going to be a Frankenstein...
  15. Jeep Wrangler Pickup (JT) production starts Sept. 2018. Will come in 2 and 4 door

They did say the JK was going to be produced a year after the JL. JL production is probably right around a year away.
  16. JL Wrangler vs New Ford Bronco

One thing the Wrangler has that Ford will not be able to match (at least for a long while) is unmatched aftermarket. It will take some time for Bronco even if it sells decently well. I admit I am intrigued by what Ford will do but I'll probably pick up a JL (unless they screw it up) and take a...
  17. Jeep Wrangler pickup (JT) - payload and towing capacity?

Yea the tow capacity on the Ecodiesel GC has me hopeful the JT truck will be higher than some are expecting. They have said it will be a legit truck not just a Wrangler with a flat bed. My question is will the JT have the diesel option available at the outset in the first model year or will we...
