I agree. The diesel should power the Wrangler VERY nicely in all conditions. And the resale should be great. The footnote on the JL timeline says FCA is targeting 30,000 diesel JL produced a year compared to 212,000 JL's powered by the other engines. So diesel JL's will be comparatively rare.
As of now it doesn't look like Rhino will be a color option - see http://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/2018-jeep-wrangler-jl-hits-dealer-system-1st-official-look-engines-options-packages-features.1261/
So you'd be deciding between Granite and Billet. I'm still holding out hope they'll...
In case you haven't seen, it's significantly different than the JK. This looks like the largest 8.4" screen to me.
From this thread http://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/first-look-production-interior-of-the-2018-jeep-wrangler-jl-jlu.1129/
Have you seen the revealed images with the top off? http://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/say-hi-to-the-2018-jeep-wrangler-jlu.726/
Whole top still comes off, not just panels, leaving effectively just a roll cage structure.
The exhaust tip on the JT prototype hangs kind of low too since it points downwards. I could see those getting some dings as well. But yea I guess rear exit tips sticking out the back of the car eats into departure angle the most.
So sounds like it's the axle ratio that's makes the biggest difference in tow capacity and the reason the JK tow capacity is so low because of its high 3.21 axle ratio?
Any idea how much more higher tow capacity the JK would have if it used the Ram's 3.55 or the even higher 3.73 that JK...
Woa power top on a Wrangler. Pretty revolutionary addition considering how little changes on the Wrangler over time. It's looking like Jeep really went wild on roof options and configurability for JL.
Went back and stuedied the pic. Pretty convincing that this is a mechanical top because if...
These are incredible renders and look realy accurate. I know its a small touch but really like they moved the Jeep logo to the quarter panel. Halo headlight rings is another nice small touch. And you'll be able to recognize this new generation just by its halo lights.
If this is supposed to be FJ successor it'd better not be the same formula as before or it's gonna suffer same fate. It'd have to have solid front axle, removable top, better visibility, and a better aftermarket. And if it ends up being a Wrangler competitor it'll be interesting to see the JL...
It'll be mass produced for sure. Not surprising why limit sales when the trucks segment just keeps booming. Its already been confirmed for international markets with production starting in 2019 and a year earlier for the U.S. market.
Sure starting price hasn't changed much on the lowest models, but the very top of the line models when specced out is in the $50k range! No doubt this has to do with the lack of any real competition. Once the Bronco hits the market this upward price creeping should stop. There's even rumors...
This article I found was just published a few days ago. Ignore the headline since it's referring to Australia, but it says that production of the pick up will start in September 2018 in the US, a little later than what I thought.
Edit: a separate recent article also reports that there'll be a 2...
I think the rumors of a fixed roof are overblown. We know from FCA remarks that the JL is not going to be a huge change. It'll probably add a minimal hard structure where the sport bar would be just to pass rollover tests and keep it removable much like a hard top convertible.
Imagine how...
