Update:
The dealer confirmed that the leak did, in fact, stem from the Bulletin repair area around the water pump.
Also, they are now saying a new starter is required. For some reason, it got fried during the process. Not sure if it got soaked with coolant from the original eruption and fried...
Summer Update:
Finished all the rear panels in May, but having trouble keeping them stuck to the roof!
Seems the solar heat on the black top doesn't agree with the adhesives.
Tried several different alternatives, including the industrial velcro (hook & hook), 3M contact spray adhesive, etc...
The fitting the mechanic was reaching to was at the bottom of the block, same side. I couldn't see it myself, but not questioning his input. And obviously, I can't go out and verify, since it's been MIA for 4 weeks!
Also - they never acknowledged that there was already a bulletin for this, so...
So, I just saw this post after I started my own thread on the same issue (presumably)
Why is my dealer not aware of this bulletin????
My engine was toast, and now into week 5 of the in-the-shop treadmill!!
Well, that about sums up my first experience with a non-GM car in my 42+ years of car ownership!!
2021 JLU Willys - 4 cyl turbo.
Took delivery end of November of 21.
Pretty happy until 4 weeks ago:
Approximately 7000 on the ODO.
Driving home in traffic and the temp gauge started chiming and...
Ditto what Bowhunter said:
I invested in a $40 hitch-mounted rack. Any deer I can bag gets thrown on that with some bungees. If I ever happen to bag an Elk or some other monster, I'll find access to a trailer!
The rack also doubles as an external luggage or cooler carrier for long fishing...
Here's another picture showing the hoist system tucked up and away when not in use.
Those short black/red straps and the connector rings are there just for storage, to connect the front gambrel to the rear pipe.
I was thinking of replacing the front deer gambrel with another 36x1" pipe, but I...
Hi All - So I took a lot of the great ideas found on this thread and others, and created my own "hybrid" system for my garage with 10 foot ceilings and my '21 JLU.
I employed a manual crank hoist from HF and ran the single cable up to a split point on the ceiling in order to run separate lift...
Where'd you get your transfer case shifter? I've never seen one like that before. Looks like it would avoid the knee-knocker that the current knob presents.
Inside sources confirmed to me today that there are NO vented seats for JLs for MY 22.
Likely just standard verbiage in the O/M copied from another model.
Aldo - Not to be a Debbie Downer, but if this happened to you in your Spider, the video would likely be most useful in your wrongful death suit. And God Bless your beneficiaries!
I think my favorite "nugget" out of this design is the splitting of the single cable into a double. This allows a standard winch set up, but you gain the added stability of separate front and rear lift lines. This should significantly reduce any twisting in the wind of the hung top, as well as...
Hasn't been all that cold yet here in Michigan.
But I will say that it just "seems" warmer and quieter. The soft material above your head gives a "cozier" environment feel.
Mega Props to Sector281411 for this great idea and project plan!!
I followed this for my own hardtop, starting with the front removable panels first.
Finished and installed them last night and they look great!
Can't say for sure yet how much road noise it dampens, but the interior is much less...
I'm in the process of doing a similar set-up for a multi-port power supply inside, that will have 2 USBs and 2 lighter sockets.
However, I was wanting power on with both engine and ACC modes, so I used the "Cigar Lighter" fuse #F52. It's a 20A micro, so I needed a micro-tap, which I couldn't...
