My 2018 JLU with 2.0L - had transmission valve body go out at 55k - 9 weeks at dealership waiting for part, but at least they gave me a loaner that time - this time at 87k, turbo went out and caused head gasket to fail even though coolant never ran out. Now at 9 weeks waiting on this (have MOPAR...
Dealer finally calls today and says - cause of head gasket was bad turbo assembly - has also ruined the catalytic converter and that will need to be replaced. I said isn't that covered as damage from a covered component? They said no. I hung up and pull up contract. Sure enough it says, "Not...
My guess is that it is possible but that the transmission would have to have an adapter of some sort or be changed along with the ECM being programmed differently
I used to worry when towing about getting too hot. I don't think I have ever seen anything north of 220 even when towing in the summer. Fan never ran continuously either.
Not sure that I did anything to it. Certainly I drive it, and I tow a 2k lb camper with it in the summer but nothing that I would have expected to cause failure. I have changed the oil and used the specified grade, used 89 gas, even changed the diff fluid at least every year. Like I said in...
It did not overheat - I changed oil and saw orange buildup that I thought was coolant - resovoir was low but not empty. Stopped driving it and made appointment. They said there was coolant in the oil when it got to the shop.
My 18 JLU w 2.0L (Italian origin motor) blew the head gasket at 87. Have the Mopar service contract. Has been at dealer over 2 weeks with no update. Last they said they have to tear down to diagnose whether it needs just head pulled/machined/repaired or new motor. Is this motor going to make it...
Final disposition on my repair - took 49 days. I called Jeep Cares about 2+ weeks ago and they were absolutely no help. They took a week and a half to contact me and they said:
Good Morning,
I am reaching out to you via email, as I have attempted to contact you by phone and have not...
That's great that you had that experience - a week after I contacted JeepScares, I got a response that they were trying to reach me (my phone rings real good!) and that the dealer I told them the vehicle was located at does not have the vehicle. Nice! Here I am 47 days into this debacle and no...
Here it's a month later and I have nothing more than a month ago - they say it's the valve body in the transmission that is bad but they cannot order or source the part. They asked for approval to replace Trans and they cannot get that either! What is going on!
The dealer is being nonspecific about it at this point. It’s a 2.0L auto. I’m going in on my lunch and going to pressure them for the specific diagnosis and a loaner car. As much as I love my YJ, I can’t really drive it without a top for any extended duration of time, especially with the...
My trans went out yesterday at 52k miles. Praying the replacement comes quickly. Dealer is wishy washy about what the repair process and timeframe is and also the availability of a loaner. Ugh
Dealer called today - it's definitely something wrong IN the transmission. They are going to try to figure it out at some point and see "if" they can get parts. I simply asked if I should pick up a rental or drop off my payment coupon for August. I don't think he was amused, but honestly where...
There’s apparently an override switch under the dash that allows the operation despite the p1b14 code. Second tow driver got it. I left it at side of road in favor of work. Thankfully my son drives my hand me down 2014 Cruze that runs flawlessly
18 JLU 2.0T 850 Trans - left for work today and check engine light was on. My Alpine will read codes so I check and the P1B14 showed up. Stopped, shift to park and turned off, started up again and then get the "Shift to P then select gear" loop. Check again and the other two show up. First tow...
