  3. What's the hardest Jeep mod/install you've ever done?

Clutch and supercharger install on a JK in same weekend. Despite enormous underbody cleaning efforts; dirt still fell like crazy the entire time; then there was a fair share of seized bolts and snapped bolts along the way; after new clutch and throw out bearing was in, transmission didn’t want...
  4. Tire Deflators

Have had stauns and oasis deflators before; and eventually frustration set in. After a few uses they'd get gritty, or would find one that stuck open or go out of tolerance and over or under deflate a tire; then a tedious process to adjust to dial it back in. That, and compared to deflators that...
  5. Looking to get a GMRS handheld

The midland mxt’s have some mobile radios that are designed for temporary use. External magnet mount antenna and power that plugs into the lighter/vpa. Better performance than the typical bubble pack handheld. For a handheld though… the midland x talkers or Motorola talksbouts perform well and...
  6. Recommendation for Sunshade

Spiderweb shade, the og of sun shades. It’s what I’ve used on every jeep I’ve owned.
  7. Clutch went out. Jeep said kick rocks. Which aftermarket clutch?

Act HD would be my recommendation for an alternate aftermarket clutch.
  8. Emergency, resolved

Stack logs or rocks, if those aren’t available, use your spare tire. Search for a local jeep group, or ideally, a local jeep recovery group. Or let us know where you’re at and I’m sure someone here will know someone in that general area.
  9. BUGS!! Cleaning dead bug guts off your vehicle?

Sprayway glass cleaner; it works wonders for bug removal on the go. A trucker once recommended it to us on a long road trip, after watching us unsuccessfully trying to clean our windshield with a squeegee and windex. Sprayed a thin layer, the one easy wipe and boom, clean. Have kept a can or two...
  10. Push button 4WD for the Wrangler

Had a 3rd gen Tacoma TRDOR that had a button... hated that thing. Majority of offroading around me can be done in 2wd; but plenty of situations where you realize at the last moment that you need 4wd... in 4Runner or Jeep, pull the lever, and boom, you're in 4. In the taco... you push the...
  11. Confession time…

LOL... something similar happened to me once with a parking garage in Chicago. 4" lift on 37's; I was inching up to the height test bar when someone there gave me a thumbs up and waived me forward. As I looked in my rear view, noticed the bar was swinging a bit, but figured maybe just a wind...
  12. Confession time…

Since there’s already plenty of rain related top down stories… how about having the doors and top off the jeep (top totally removed), but then suddenly getting called in to work at 3am… still half asleep, backs feeling sore, so no motivation to put things back on… but also not thinking to check...
  13. Utah Bartact custom seat covers

Great deal, surprised no one’s jumped on these yet. I’d be in, but sadly I don’t have the console rear seats.
  14. Any reason not to try a Badland winch.

Superwinch used to be amazing, the talon series specifically - well sealed against moisture, everything operated smoothly and felt premium, and most importantly, they were quite fast. Now, superwinch is owned by Westin, and not sure if it's still the same quality or not. I tried to buy a talon...
  15. USAA insurance won't cover

Another disgruntled formed USAA customer here - used to be awesome, rates far lower than anyone else... then they rapidly started to climb, but still lower or at least on par with others. For a while anyways. When our state changed some laws that should have translated to lower rates; contacted...
  16. Factory LED Fog lights? Mopar Part #: 683040489 vs Mopar Part #: 82215163

Good luck! I think one of those was designed to fit the steel bumper, while the other the plastic bumper. But I don’t remember if either could accommodate the other. If it doesn’t work out, I’d just consider going aftermarket with a set of diode dynamic fogs or something.
  17. Does anyone use the "manual" mode on the automatic transmission?

I never had this problem in my JL or JK; it let me ride the rev limiter through a climb without up shifting. I could see it not allowing you to shift again manually while under those conditions… but picking 3rd gear and then dropping the skinny pedal through a climb, never had it upshift on me.
  18. Does anyone use the "manual" mode on the automatic transmission?

I primarily use it for off road hill climbs (long/steep climbs). You need to lock it into 2nd or 3rd to make sure you can stay on the power; otherwise, you tend to get about 2/3 of the way up, and it will up shift, bog down, and you'll lose all your momentum.
