Most people underestimate the value of good health insurance. I was working part time, teaching, for about 10 years and loved it. My wife was also working part time, thus no employee health insurance- we were self pay. As of 5+ years ago we were paying $22k per year for garbage...
We're you around for Isabel, September '03? No power for 2-1/2 weeks. That was an eye opener! Fortunately this house was just a weekend getaway for us then, but we'd bring jugs of water and fuel for potable generators to our neighbors every couple of days once the roads were clear enough...
This....after much cajoling from my wife we got a 24kw whole house about a year and a half ago. Even got a separate 500 gal. propane tank just for the genetics. So far it hasn't been used 😐. I guess it's like life insurance- just as well if you don't need it. It did make for an easy 60th...

4. I lost my hair about 3 months after this!!!!
It's really quite remarkable when you're walking downtown, round the corner, and there's a huge ass battleship right in front of you. I had a great uncle that served on it in Korea. When they docked it in Norfolk he got to go along for the ride. Pretty cool.
A little more spendy, but we have these on basement, garage and barn doors. No more having to remember to get keys.
