Mounted a rifle case to the luggage rack to serve as extra storageā¦ freeing up rear cargo area a bit. Waterproof case, and caulked the holes I drilled for the U-bolts that hold it to rack. Need to get black locksā¦only had purple handy.
Posting a bit belatedā¦. Over the holidays, added an Ironman 4x4 roof rack. Welded aluminum, so saves weight. Love the welded mesh full base on it which gives lots of tie down options. Went for the ātradeā version with open front and rear to allow for long items to fit flat. Simple clamps...
Are your bumper mounted lights Hellaās? And how are they mounted? Wondering if they happen to fit in existing bolt holes of factory steel bumper?
I have steel bumper and the same Mopar low tube hoop. Hadnāt thought about mounting them like that.
They have been great, with no post installation issues or regrets. Very solid and sturdy. But havenāt seen any trail abuse to be able to comment on true rock slider capabilities.
I find the full width step surface handy for reaching the roof and windshield. My wife (short) would have...
Spray painted the muffler and tailpipe black.... Rustoleum High Heat (2000 degree) spray paint.
Wife and 16yr old son walk up...
them: "What the heck are you doing?"
me: (thinking that 'painting the muffler' is gonna draw weird looks and comments) "It's a Jeep condom. In case we drive...
I just had a similar "oh crap" moment as I realized I hadn't measured garage clearance for a roof rack I just bought, and that might change backing into garage to change tops. If it's close, guess I can air down the tires...
Installed a Superwinch SX12SR 12,000lb winch today. Used a Maximus-3 JL Winch Mount Plate with the Factory Steel Bumper.
Install was very straightforward. Winch fits great. Factory low hoop bar is perfect height for protecting it.
Bought the Maximus-3 filler plates, but havenāt figured out...
Put it to use for yard chores. Pulled several deep rooted bushes that had died. Wrapped tow strap around base of bush, connected to rear d-ring, and gave it gas.
Learned the value of the Line Dampener when one of the more tough ones finally popped loose, flew forward, and the strapās hook and...
I didnāt. I used steel punches to fit in the part of shocks bolt hole I could see and leveraged the shock up until I could get the bolt in. Yeah, a jack would have been easier, but I was too lazy to get it out.
The Rear Control Arm / Shock Skid Guard was pretty easy. Unbolted Control Arm and Shock on one side. Slid on Skid Guard, one side was a bit tighter fit than other initiallyā¦deploy rubber mallet. Insert new control arm bolt, reused old nut for it cuz Rancho gave a Nylock with fine instead of...
I wish Rancho had used a solid metal top bracket for the front diff plate like they did for the rear plate. I agree the u-bolt they use for front plate seemed a little sketchy. And that U-Bolt seemed short, but I got it started with just a couple threads. And when done, there were more than...
Added Rancho Rock Gear:
Front Diff Skid Guard
Rear Diff Skid Guard
Rear Control Arm / Shock Skid Guard
Picked these cuz they get good reviews and are red. I like having that splash of Rubicon Red against the dark Granite Crystal Paint. Probably go with MORE Engine and Transfer Case plates...
Added Ironman Raid Rock Rails (frame mount) to serve as a step. Pics below. With Hammerhead Pinch Seam covers/protectors behind them to hide the little bit of pinch seam you could see. The rails were a breeze to install and are solid. Were supposed to double as a step for wife, but already...
I went with Ironman 4x4, Raid Rock Rails to serve as a step. Pics below. With Hammerhead Pinch Seam covers/protectors behind them to hide the little bit of pinch seam you could see. The rails were a breeze to install and are solid.
I think they qualify as frame mountā¦ use the two bolts on...
