Iām in the same boat as you. Just installed one at my folks place and itās a total game changer. Just carefully read through the manual and lift it slowly. Itās completely nerve wracking at first but all good as long as you lift from the above describes points.
I think I supported mine at the frame-side lower control arm mount. It still allowed enough droop to swap out the springs. When you find a spot, lift it slightly and then give it a good shake to make sure itās solid.
I donāt believe it was ever an option. I ordered it with a tan soft top but later learned that my local dealer had accidentally ordered a 2 door hard top in primer so I just rolled tan Monstaliner on it.
The only one-way trail is Black Bear pass, which connects Telluride to HWY 550 in between Silverton and Ouray. If youāre starting in Telluride, a common loop is to take Ophir East to Silverton and then Black Bear back west to Telluride. You can also swap Ophir for Imogene (one of my favorite...
The above list is pretty spot on to what I carry. I think the only things I would add are a roll of baling wire, a tire plug kit, and some big black trash bags so you donāt have to lay in the mud to fix something on the trail! When my axle side track bar bracket sheared off on the trail, I was...
Ooh I hadnāt seen that bracket before, I think I might try to make something along those lines.
Iāve also never seen this either, the guy at the welding supply store just told me that the tank had to be vertical when dispensing. Iāll have to do more research on the snorkel for sure!
I use my homemade CO2 tank set up to refill tires after wheeling, but still haven't found a great way to carry/mount it in the 2 door in a way that allows the soft top to open and close. I experimented with the roll bars, but then it won't let the top fold down. I removed the plastic side panels...
Iām up for it next year. Iām in Durango so let me know when youāre thinking and I can probably make it work. Iāll probably have another buddy interested as well and we can make a trip of it. Thanks for the info!
I like your style! Iāve got the exact same set up on my JLR. Sarge green with the tan soft top. I bought the coyote colored bartact seat covers and theyāre pretty close. Not an exact match but I think Khaki is too light. Iāll take some photos in a bit. I also just bought a hard top and just...
I know this was 2 years ago, but super curious on how this trip went! Iām gonna be in that area in a week or two but wasnāt sure how my mostly stock JLR would do.
Might check your junk email box. Anyway, Iāll be in your neck of the woods in late October and would love to take it off your hands. If youāre alright with that time frame, could you send me a list of missing parts so Iāll have them at the time of buying? Thanks!
