So I solved the issue , I sold the jeep and bought a nice lightly used pickup and a 2004 tj 4.0 that runs beautiful. I really did like the jl but with the engine being questionable and the fact that running a $50k jeep down forest trails and worrying about ruining it probably isn’t the best...
This is so true, I had a seasonal trailer site this summer that was an atv friendly park ,and me and a buddy would go to a lake about an hour away with my Jeep and a canoe strapped to the roof to get to lingham lake which is pretty rocky and harder to get to since you had to take a trail through...
I own a base sport 6spd with no power options and I have not wanted or needed anything more. My only option however is A/C and couldn’t do without it; I do daily drive mine so definitely a different perspective.
That’s good that you got something resolved. I’m in the same boat, will have to eventually get this ticking taken care of or hope that they can atleast give some kind of extended guarantee.
It could very well be related to vvt, mine seems to be making noise lower in the engine and I think it may be some slight piston slap since it’s happening within a certain rpm range and goes away when warm. The dealership service compared it to a new gladiator and claimed that truck did not make...
I do like this jl though other than the issue I’m having and appreciate a lot of the new tech and comforts. Only other gripe I have is the lack of throttle response or power under 2000rpm with it being manual I’ve got to keep it in a lower gear to get any acceleration out of it and 5th and 6th...
Ya unfortunately it’s not my first time dealing with dealership service, had an 18 f150 with the 3.5 ecoboost that had rattling cam phasers when cold and was denied any repair attempts , but that was a common complaint and still nothing was done for anyone, I’m hoping this outcome is different...
So the update is I heard nothing back from the dealer for 3 weeks and decided to call on Monday and ask what they have come up with. The service writer informed me that they are not taking any further steps on it and the noise will have to become louder and happen more frequently.
I have since...
I picked it up from the dealer yesterday and was told that the tech did hear the noise and is now waiting the hear back on how to proceed, so I should have a better answer sometime next week. Also the noise is mostly on the driver side area and if you know what your listening for can be heard...
Ive tried 5w30 full synthetic aswell as conventional both ms6395 approved and did not make a difference in the particular sound I’m having. The heavier weight oil did improve the overall engine noise and made it sound a little less “worn out” when it was at operating temperature though.
I just posted a question regarding a similar issue with my 3.6/6speed. I’m hearing that noise aswell when accelerating cold; but I can also hear the ticking/tapping/knocking when it is coming down from fast idle to normal idle for about 5-7 seconds , are you experiencing this aswell?
Hi this is my first post and unfortunately it’s not a positive one, but here it is.....
I’ve got a 2021 2dr sport with 3.6 and 6 speed and I’m having some engine noise that I would like to find out if is normal or not? When I start the jeep it immediately goes to fast idle for 20-30 seconds and...
