  1. Top Off Must Haves

How weather resistant/proof has this been for you? I ran my jk 2 door with nothing but the freedom panels on almost full time, so I get not worrying about most things getting wet. But it would be awesome to have this system for both security of items and not have to worry about items getting wet...
  2. AEV 2.5" Lift installed on 2021 JLUR with 33" tires. Photos. Lessons learned.

Personally, I think this looks just right. I like the look of a lot of space between wheels and fenders, and 35's match the stock fender contours well.
  3. 3.0 Diesel…. Hang on? Trade for 3.6 or 4xe?

#1 reason I bought the diesel was longevity. The rest is nice, but that was the big thing. Not sure how confident I am now in it lasting 400+k, especially with the new driving routine that it isn’t really designed for. The costs are mitigated by the fact that it’s going to be much lower mileage...
  4. 3.0 Diesel…. Hang on? Trade for 3.6 or 4xe?

So, after 2 years with the diesel, I’m wondering if it’s time to trade, for a number of reasons. Primarily, the daily commute changed from 25 miles interstate to… 0.5 miles. And all other daily/errand driving is suburbia miles, with the exception of a 5 mile occasional interstate shortcut. It’s...
  5. You can only have one option for the rest of your Jeeps life.

I ran my 2 dr JK with the back of the hardtop off but the freedom panels still on for years. Even driving in the rain, no water would come up front. The back would get soaked, but the seats were removed. The carpet was fine. A little chilly on the coldest days in winter, but nothing a good...
  6. Official: Jeep kills the Cherokee

Kind of a shame really. It was no Wrangler or XJ, that’s for sure, but like most Jeeps it was still more capable than its comparable competition in the Trailhawk trim. The upcoming Jeep Recon photos did make me wonder if it was going to replace the Cherokee though. Or, if “Recon” was just a...
  7. Dee Zee rack for Roof Top Tents

Right? Your rig looks awesome by the way. The two extra cross bars really make the rack pop along with the extra support.
  8. Dee Zee rack for Roof Top Tents

Pulling the trigger on a rack this summer, and wondering about long term updates. Has anybody broken one of these yet, or worse yet, broken their top or snapped the rain gutter? These sound like they hold up quite well, especially if they’re hauling CVT tents around (the Mt. Hood is NOT a light...
  9. Metalcloak lock-n-load vs Game changer

Thanks, I can be an over thinker trying to get every last bit of juice out before I even squeeze sometimes. Also, I see there are now 5.5 inch versions of all the MetalCloak lifts now. Didn’t notice them a few days ago, when did this happen? Wondering if that piques @Headbarcode ’s curiosity…...
  10. Metalcloak lock-n-load vs Game changer

Back on subject of long arm/geo brackets, the mention of climbing resistance being decreased by the improved arcs got me thinking about axle strength and larger tires. Really trying to integrate all this info and have a complete plan before upgrading so that I can follow the buy once, cry once...
  11. Backspacing and offset to use with 3.5'' Metalcloak lift and 37's ?

I've wondered this as well. Complicating it (for me with limited knowledge anyway) is wondering whether the wider rubicon axles move more than just the wheels out, and have other significant location changes? Maybe based on other changes, the backspacing requirement is the same for both rubi and...
  12. 35" and 37" JL pics with lift kit

What is the decal/mod in the rear door windows? Saw one in town the other day, I like it!
  13. Diesel Preheat - won’t start

Correction on those temps above, they should be negative. -10 and -20.
  14. Diesel Preheat - won’t start

Thanks. That was the first thing I did. It was not helpful. The manual says wait for the warning to go away before starting. The warning didn’t come on until after attempting each start. From the manual (diesel supplement): NOTE: A delay of the start of up to five seconds is possible under very...
  15. Diesel Preheat - won’t start

Actually, I lucked out (ironically) and the original battery died about a week ago. It has a fresh battery. Didn’t know about the anti-gel though. Does any treatment, like sea foam, accomplish this? Or is it specifically the 911?
  16. Diesel Preheat - won’t start

Ok, phew. Thanks fellas. Did what you said about 10 times over course of a few minutes. Finally started. It didn’t sound happy when it did though! Weird that that warning didn’t come up before trying to actually start though… should I be concerned about that?
  17. Diesel Preheat - won’t start

Hmm… the warning doesn’t come on when I put it to run. It just comes in when I put foot on brake to actually start. It pauses for about 5 sec after I do that, then attempts to start. No warning before that, just when I try to actually start it.
  18. Diesel Preheat - won’t start

Cycle the glow plugs? Diesel dummy here, how do I do that?
  19. Diesel Preheat - won’t start

So, it’s cold (about 3 F) and the engine won’t start. Diesel. When hitting ignition, the diesel preheat please wait message pops up for a second, then it starts cranking. Goes about 10 sec, engine turns over weakly once, cranks another 10 sec then goes dead. What’s going on, and what do I do?
  20. Adventure Rack Systems (ARS) by MetalCloak

Thanks! Cutting it close. JLURD on 315s, no lift. Delighted (and surprised) there is no rub at full lock, but haven’t tested that off road yet and thinking at least a leveling lift is in the future; especially after adding weight. Speaking of… anyone know the total weight of the base system...
