Thanks for this thread! I realize that getting annoyed at having to hold a button for 3 seconds is a very suburban problem to have, but it was a very real one for me. I opted for the 3WLiners piece and some friends installed it for me today.
They said it was a very easy install, and were...
So you're a former service tech who doesn't know what a flashing CEL means or own a code reader? Did I really read that right?
I'm glad your father, wife, and Jeep made it back OK, and hope the repair process is smooth and effective, no matter who ends up fixing it.
I have USAA and was under the assumption that I had no coverage offroad. I just called and confirmed that they will provide coverage at an offroad park as long as I'm not engaging in commercial activity or don't intentionally drive into a tree or something. Thanks for mentioning that!
I folded mine down once with help from friends during a Jeeps and Java meet last Summer. At the end of the meet, I drove to Target at about 15 mph and picked up some cheap sunglasses. Once I had those, it was bearable up to about 25 mph. Anything faster than that made me wish I had a helmet...
If any of you are interested, one of the local groups is doing a beach driving tutorial tomorrow evening at Democrat Point. I'm planning to try to get there after work. It's time for my Jeep to get a bit dirty!
Here are a wider shot and one from the other side so people can make fun of us for being from Long Island and going to the mall. :D
It was fun meeting y'all! As a reminder, Jeeps and Java is next Sunday at 10 at:
Bagels & Such
90 Railroad Avenue
Ronkonkoma, NY 11779
It'll be a busy weekend...
It looks like the later in the day the better for me, as I may need to run into the office for a bit. Would 3:00 be good? If not, make it whenever you want and I'll work around it.
Looks like you're in charge! Pick a time and place. :)
Come with your current Jeep or whatever else you're driving. When the 392 arrives announce another meetup so we can go drool on it!
If I'm ever on the subway, something is very very wrong. I will wave, attempt to make eye contact, try to pass someone a note, or whatever else I can do to plead for help without drawing the ire of my captors.
I'm on Long Island and have had my Willy's just over a month. At first I was waving at every Wrangler I saw and no one waved back. On day 3, a Black JLU waved at me near my office and it didn't register until we'd passed. I made a U-turn and hauled ass trying to catch up and wave back but it...
I don't know about Nassau, but I ordered my GreenKey and beach permit for Suffolk online. I called the parks department and they had me email my license and registration to scparks (at) suffolkcountyny.gov to get started.
You don't have to go in person for the state permit. I did it online. It does have to be submitted by 7 pm today though.
