On my 3rd Wrangler.
Drove a '97 TJ for about 15 years (still my favorite).
Then ordered a JK, drive that for 5 years.
Then ordered a JLU in 2021 and still have that.
I just did the same thing. I got into the jeep the same way I always do, smacked my knee into the switch and it pretty much exploded. It makes me miss the headlight pull-switch on my old TJ.
Which JK bracket did you use, and did you have to do anything special to it? I want to get this Vector bracket for my JL but they seem to be out of stock everywhere, so it'd be great to make a JK bracket work instead.
Sorry if I missed it in the thread, but with the factory AUX switch group is there a harness in the rear as well? Or is it just the one up front under the passenger footwell? I have an LED light I'd like to install on the roll bar as a rear flood, controlled with one of the AUX switches.
I got my 2021 JL and have already taken 3,000 mile road trip and another planned for next month, and so on.
Before that, the first year I had my 2016 JK, I drove over 7,000 miles from Chicago, through the Canadian Rockes, to the Pacific and back. 3 months later I drove to Florida and back, then...
That's what I'm saying, the scaffold is perfect for me. I'm aware of that potential for damage - I've had wranglers for 20 years, taken the top off the JK and before that the TJ many times without any help from a hoist or a table/scaffold. The Lange hoist and the TopLift aren't the best option...
That last one you're referring to is called a Lange Hoist-a-cart. They look great, but are about $600 now. They were on the top of my list before I saw this brilliant DIY scaffold option. I have a short garage with a peaked roof, and mounting any kind of hoist to the ceiling is tricky and...
I think it will depend on the company that installs it, but the glass co that installed my GG gives it a lifetime warranty for any damage. I'm not sure if that is a MOPAR-backed thing, or just from the glass co.
That's a good point too, and I'm not sure if GG has more issues with pitting. The...
That's the thing about glass: it can be scratch-resistant (hard) but easier to break, or it can be tough to break (soft/flexible) but easier to scratch. It's really difficult to engineer glass that is the best of both.
In my JK, I was positive there was no reason at all top spend the extra $ on the Gorilla Glass... until the 4th time I had to replace the windshield in a span of 24 months. Yeah, it's really expensive. Yeah, that sucks. But I had at least a half dozen stone and debris strikes on the GG...
I have a "Vgate iCar Pro BLE 4" (bluetooth) that plugs into the Jeep, and is controlled with a phone. It has worked great for things like lowering the tire pressure sensor thresholds and adjusting the speedo for aftermarket tires. The Vgate was about $30 on Amazon, then another $25 per vehicle...
Late to the party on this one, but I've had the ARB front bumper (without a winch) on my 2-door JK for 5 years with no issues at all. I saw no noticeable change in handling once it was installed, and I've been super happy with it over the years. So much so that I'm going to put one on my new JL.
