  1. Ordered First “NEW” 2024 Rubicon X

4.88s are Generally good for Rock crawling, towing (yeah ...right). Engine will rev higher on the highway but will actually work less (just like riding your 10 speed , your legs spin faster but it's much easier), so MPG might be a little lower, but probably not huge diff. And if you are going...
  2. Ordered First “NEW” 2024 Rubicon X

Check this out. A according to this web service you have 4.56s - you might want to confirm that I typed in your VIN correctly. https://www.jeep.com/webselfservice/BuildSheetServlet?vin=1C4RJXFG8RW200653
  3. Ordered First “NEW” 2024 Rubicon X

This is quite surprising. I looked at the sticker and if you read carefully next to "Standard Equipment" there's a qualifier that says "Unless replaced by Optional Equipment". The Rubicon X package includes the Xtreme package which includes 4.56 gears. If i was to wager, I'm betting on 4.56...
  4. Ordered First “NEW” 2024 Rubicon X

You are correct. The tow rating for the Rubicon with 4.56 ratio is 3,500 lbs, not 5000 lbs. To get the 5000 lbs tow rating you need the 4.10 rear end... which isn't available with the 35" tires. This is very convoluted. To get the 5,000 lbs tow rating - A/T - Rubicon or Rubicon x - 4.10...
  5. Falcon 3.1 SP2/ Clayton Off-Road

I'm running the same. Clayton 2.5" Overland with Falcon SP2 3.3s. I installed the setup in August and don't think I can tolerate this any more. Ride is so stiff. I've watched some reviews on YT and it's sort of funny. Some reviewers are reporting "1" is too soft for highway driving and 2.2 is...
  6. Advice for Towing at the limit

Yes, indeed. This was a rental. The guy renting it didn't have a WDH. If I end up buying my own trailer then I'm also getting a WDH and a brake controller.
  7. Advice for Towing at the limit

Thanks for the advice. My Jeep is also the Rubicon X. I rented the trailer and took it on a small trip (about 100 miles each way) The Clayton lift with / Falcon SP3.3 Shocks /BBK / HD springs made the driving a total breeze. No body roll, good braking downhill, good pulling power up hill. I...
  8. 4xe Rear Platform Build(s)

The pictures get better and better! I assume the "Trail Rail holes" are the same thing as the OE tie-down holes? This is an excellent design! You and @bodhi are really inspiring me! For the rear design, it appears the 2x2s are stacked to for a total frame elevation of 3" (assuming the 2x2s...
  9. 4xe Rear Platform Build(s)

Thank you so much for posting these. I'm embarking on this project this winter. I have not deleted the rear seats yet so these pictures give me a pretty good idea on how to approach the design.
  10. Another Owner Throws in the Towel

My 2020 JLURD went back as a lemon with 30K miles. BUT because I had a major repair with only 280 miles on the Odometer (yes I was towed off the freeway on my first tank) , the mileage adjustment was $140. So I basically got a full refund. The cooling systems is not, good. The electrical...
  11. Advice for Towing at the limit

Agreed. I'll rely on the rotors, and the transmission to a lesser extent. But most of all I'll rely on going slowly and leaving lots of space in front of me.
  12. Advice for Towing at the limit

Mopar lifts are exempt from physics. Gotcha. The center of gravity is higher, this changes driving dynamics and characteristics. This is objectively true, i don't care whose label is on the kit. I'd be willing to wager that somewhere in that kit, theres a disclaimer, that says this.
  13. Advice for Towing at the limit

Those are great options. The site does have cabins but they are far removed from where everyone hangs out. It’s kind of fun to be with everyone renting a trailer close to the RV park is a true head-smack moment lol. I can’t believe that didn’t occur to me. Looking into that now.
  14. Advice for Towing at the limit

maybe if I’m working in a tire shop where that level of semantics is important I’m wrong but in common every day English “wheel” sufficiently describes what I needed to describe. Dictionary definition: a circular object that revolves on an axle and is fixed below a vehicle or other object to...
  15. 5000 lbs tow limit

This might help. The tow specs are at the bottom https://s3.amazonaws.com/chryslermedia.iconicweb.com/mediasite/specs/2024_JP_Wrangler_SP.pdf
  16. 5000 lbs tow limit

that’s exactly correct. Can’t find this on Jeeps website, even the configurator has wrong info. Rubicon Unlimited+ 4.10 + AT+ 2.0L or 3.6L get 5K towing. All others are 3500. Also, all 24 Rubicons have the full floating rear axle. Some ppl (including professional automotive reviewers)...
  17. Advice for Towing at the limit

only with the I4 and V6. The 4xe and 392s are rated for 3500. https://s3.amazonaws.com/chryslermedia.iconicweb.com/mediasite/specs/2024_JP_Wrangler_SP.pdf
  18. Advice for Towing at the limit

The RIMS are 17” the TIRES are 35”. The WHEEL is the tire mounted upon the rim there’s one in every crowd I swear.
  19. Advice for Towing at the limit

Just curious about the engine. V6, I4, EcoDiesel? Automatic transmission? Your gearing is more favorable than the one in my 4xe Rubicon (4.10) so I will definitely be watching the temps. I will be towing up hwy 50 and then over to 395 south down to about the Bishop area. I will take a look...
  20. Advice for Towing at the limit

Thanks so much for the feedback. Wise to keep it around 45. FWIW I don't think the trailer I'm renting will be 4000, the dry weight is 3000 and there are grocery stores and lots of services near our camp site, so we won't pack much other than clothes. I can even fill the fresh water tank at...
