  1. 3.6L "Hiccup"

If I had to take a wild guess, I'd say it's probably something in the MAF sensor or fuel-mapping. Either way, it's likely a software fix. If it is a software fix, I am not interested.
  2. 3.6L "Hiccup"

Congratulations on the new Rubicon! Great choice on the manual transmission. I'm 20k miles later, I still love mine :) As for the "hiccup", it's still there. I notice it every time, but it no longer bothers me. if you're like me and worried that it may amount to some problem down the road...
  3. 3.6L "Hiccup"

Hey All its been a long time... I'll give a quick update. It's now 10 months I've had my 2021 JLUR and 10k miles and I still have the hiccup. I tried using the Tazer to fully turn off traction control and it did not help. I suspect, as someone mentioned way early on that this is a VVT thing...
  4. STOP ORDER on all Manual Jeeps [Update: software flash fix arrives in March]

I don't buy it. The manual transmission is still being advanced and not much less modern than an ancient centrifugal clutch you find in most automatic transmissions. I do agree with a lot of things you said, but I don't think its oldness that is driving out the manual transmission. I think...
  5. Not a fake pic!

Looks like you figured out how to run your jeep on washer fluid instead of gas.
  6. STOP ORDER on all Manual Jeeps [Update: software flash fix arrives in March]

I have a 6MT -- I won't buy anything other than a manual. Anywho... Is it really a hose? What I'm reading says FCA intends to fix it with software?
  7. Recall Notice 21V-028 [1/28/21]: Manual Transmission / Clutch Overheat Covers All 2018-2021 Jeep Wranglers Produced by January 22, 2021

Wait... Clutches are burning up and they're going to use software to fix it?... That smells like a burning clutch to me. Claiming the clutch is operating as it should and that torque needs to be reduced via software to keep it from catching on fire doesn't make any sense. I don't want my...
  8. 6spd Water Fording

Thanks everyone, sounds like good advice, best to select your gear before and be consistent with speed. I was just curious about the consequences if I were forced to stop for some reason in the middle. What I'm reading is, don't worry about it too much, disc may get wet, but no big deal...
  9. 6spd Water Fording

Hey All, When fording water with a manual transmission, I've heard (via The University of Youtube) that if you clutch-in while fording water that water can rush into the clutch and ruin it. 1. Is this true for the JL/JLU Rubicon or was some preventive measure made by Jeep? 2. If I had to...
  10. Winch recommendations?

Thank you, I appreciate it. I notice on Amazon that the X20 and XRC gen3 are the same price, both $580 for the 10k and 9.5k. From the Smittybilt website, it looks like the X20 comes with a 5 year warranty and the XRC is 3 year. I get the impression the X20 was meant to be more robust. If the...
  11. Winch recommendations?

Whats the difference between the Smittybilt X20 and the Smittybilt XRC Gen3 ? Is a Warn worth the cost? They're pretty pricey. Thanks!
  12. 80lb winch suspension adjustment?

I'm looking to put a winch on my front bumper and I see Warn Zeon 10-S is 80lbs, and the Smittybilt 9.5k Gen3 is 60lbs. (And the Warn is 2 or 3 times the price) I'm wondering if you guys with heavy winches feel the front end sag? How much does it change your ground clearance if any? What...
  13. 3.6L "Hiccup"

I'm curious... what is the idle RPM for those of you that feel the rough idle, and those of you that do not? I have a rough idle and my idle RPM is about 600 to 650. If I raise the RPM to 750 with the gas pedal the rough idle becomes silky smooth.
  14. 3.6L "Hiccup"

I vote the factory upgrades us all with a supercharger and a tune haha J/K, but I bet the tune fixed it. This supports the theory of it being software related. I plugged in a Tazer, so my warranty is already potentially at risk... why not get a tune! I will try this. Could be something bad...
  15. 3.6L "Hiccup"

All good suggestions. I do run Shell 91 octane. Unfortunately we don't get 93 here in California. I didn't intend to always run 91, but I figured it might help while breaking in the engine since there is a greater chance of pre-detonation in a brand new engine. I have about 1,500 miles now, I...
  16. 3.6L "Hiccup"

I tried searching and found nothing. Can you share a link to some of the similar cases? EDIT: I tried searching through the TSBs and this was the closest thing I could find: http://www.wkjeeps.com/TSB/tsb_wk_1800409a.pdf It sounds very similar but its for a 2009. If the problem is software...
  17. 3.6L "Hiccup"

I just googled it -- apparently I can use my HP Tuners OBD2 data logger on this Jeep! If the TC experiment fails, I'll spend some time datalogging to see if I can trigger the hiccup and capture timing or knock retard, maybe even AFR if the computer has it. Will do! Don't worry about your...
  18. 3.6L "Hiccup"

Quick update -- My gut has been telling me that this "hiccup" issue is related to traction control, so I did an experiment and have been turning traction control off (along with my ritual of turning off auto start/stop). It's been over a week and it seemed to have gone away... Until today, I...
  19. I want to strip out all the carpet

This is exactly what I'm looking for! Thank you!
  20. I want to strip out all the carpet

I did it... I pulled it all out... I lasted a whole 3 minutes and couldn't take it then put it all back in... BUT at least now I know... Sorry no pics, I think I was just too bummed. I think it was because my car is white and the interior is black, when I removed the carpet it was then too...
