After a LONG wait, I got my trailer. Tested it this weekend, and I love it. I have to work on how I will organize things, but for a first trip, I did pretty well. OVS or Body armor awning will get ordered today. Likely OVS as it looks better for freestanding in nice weather. Had some rain...
If you could live anywhere in the US, and it was for wheeling opportunities, where would it be? I know there are a lot of travelers on here. Thought I would try this. I will look at suggestions, and compare them based on a few personal things, and also proximity to good motorcycle roads...
No rush, I am prepping for next year . My plan is to have a squaredrop or teardrop with a rear galley. Normally, I am with the "buy once, cry once" but I have read a few places that dometic shares the same compressor ace iceco on some models...at quite a price difference. This is primarily...
Northern MN where our DNR has a park is basically all old iron mines and the remnants. That red dust is horrible. Saw it mentioned online (but on a sports car) and had to try it. I sprayed half my tire. NO scrubbing, no rinsing. This stuff is awesome. Guessing a light scrub with a brush...
Is there such a thing? I just got DirtyLife wheels...I can only at a glance see high torque sticks. I would love to find the two stages I need for beadlocks...make life nice and easy. Is it too low of a torque setting to be reliable?
Anyone have a torn or cut window from a JLU soft top? I want a damaged one because I want to try something and don't want to wreck mine. Either side is fine.
Did a search...didn't see a thread on this (or missed it).
Who wheels with a dog? My last dog passed a few years ago. Living alone and liking travel, I avoided getting another. Motorcycle trips are a no-no obviously. Now that I have another Jeep, and am working from home permanently, I...
Long story short...I have a shit bumper that I need to either get rid of, or modify the fairlead mount. Looking at aftermarket options, I don't see the fairlead mount as being "hardcore". Am I correct that it isn't a high strength needed item? Many aftermarket ones I see look light a simple...
For the tl;dr crowd, many winches won't fit this bumper. Bottom of post has a question.
I've been looking for bumpers since October when I drove my JL home. I knew I wanted a stubby, and I knew I wanted the add on skid. I wanted a recessed winch mount. That left things limited already...
Why pay a couple hundred for the pipe instead of just hacking off before the muffler and leaving it as that? It's turned down, it's opposite the gas tank. It's out of the way.
I must be missing something.
So, I don't have plates yet on my JLUR, but I got 37s yesterday. I was going to do armor first, but this was a deal not to miss. Stock JL wheels, so I am getting 1.75 spacers. The wheels are charcoal 5 spoke (should look awesome with sarge green), so nearly what I was looking at aftermarket...
Two things come to mind::
Beadlocks vs no beadlocks?
I love the look, but never needed beadlocks before. I regularly took my TJ down to 8 pounds. Rarely I did lose some air in spots on rocks, never lost a bead. As I wheel shop, I think OBA would be a better investment than the beadlock price...
Coming from a TJ and all the crap that gathered in the frame (wish I had filled with spray foam day one), has anyone looked at similar on the JL? Just wondering what simple things I can do to save myself issues if I keep this thing a long time like I think I will.
