I would consider it (relatively) cheap insurance... Let me know what you find out.
I just remembered - I literally ran over a deer in my 2001 Jeep Wrangler. Only evidence was deer hair on the front and rear differentials. Definitely a strange one...
Yes, it was with my 2021 JL. I was in the middle of a road trip and didn't notice anything wrong for the rest of the trip (another 2000 miles or so). However, after the trip, I noticed it was starting to vibrate at speed. Turned out the misalignment (appeared to have) caused the tire to...
I would recommend getting your alignment checked. When I hit a deer in Colorado, I had minimum body damage but the alignment was off and caused my tires to wear unevenly....
Did a 6000 mile trip this summer from SW Florida to San Antonio to Colorado Springs to Chicago and back to Florida... No problems what-so-ever. Of course, I'm an old man and just set the cruise to 65 and stayed in the right-hand lane so there is that...
I love running around with just the rear window out and door windows open. In order to better secure the side windows, I drilled a small hole at the bottom of each one and connect them together with bungie cords. Looks a little funny but it seems to do the job just fine - even at highway speeds.
Currently on a road trip (Florida, Texas, Colorado, Wisconsin, and back to Florida). So far so good - I find the Jeep easy to drive long distance as it is not so smooth as to lull me to sleep but easy enough to control on the highway. My thoughts were that anything can go wrong with any...
I went whole-hog and took off the both the emblems and the stickers... I'd remove the stupid "Trail Rated" badge as well but it would leave a ridiculous looking indent... May try and find something personalized to fit in there...
Lots of other factors - where will you be stopping for the night(s)? Plans to leave Jeep parked somewhere unattended for extended periods of time? Plans to do any shopping (and thus have purchases in Jeep)? Weather - provided the forecast is good - would be a minor concern of mine.
I installed the Tereflex on my 21 JLUS in the garage in a few hours. Relatively easy and good way to save some $$. I have zero complaints about the on-road manners of the Jeep but have yet to try it off-road so do not have an opinion on that.
Was going to suggest a Mini Cooper JCW Hatchback but then you said you have problems fitting into smaller cars. The wife and I are both smaller people and fit the her Mini just fine. We have had four of them over the years and keep coming back to them. They are a blast to drive (think go kart...
I get around this by drilling a small hole at the bottom of each upright at the rear of the side windows and hooking together with a pair of bungee cords. Keeps the clips from blowing out at highway speeds. Works for me but use at your own risk...
Edit to add quote that got left off... "Only...
Reminds me of the time I went to another town to look at an advertised Jeep (really low price). Got there and the salesman said "We have one out back..." Turned out the low-priced model came with a driver (only) seat, no top, no spare, no radio, no floor coverings, etc... The only things it...
As a previous avionics technician, I would be very curious as to exactly where the pinch was and specifically how they repaired it. (Thinking long-term reliability, etc...)
SW Florida here... If possible (rain and/or wife permitting), I have the windows down and rear wide open all the time. I do leave the top in Safari mode quite a bit as the sun can be brutal sitting in traffic but I do what I can to be as open as possible otherwise...
