I'm In Bayville NJ for about a month and need to get an oil change done. I'll also be spending time around Parkway exit 109-114.
Can anyone recommend a dealer/shop for simple oil change. I'm not in a position to DIY it.
A dealer would be nice, since I think I can get free oil changes - BUT I...
My understanding is that shackles should be hand tight. In the case where they are installed for a long time you typically would zip time the "bolt" to prevent it from turning out.
I guess it depends on what you think counts as tying into the frame. The currie (steel bumper) mounts to the bumper in a pretty secure way. I think it's 9 bolts. The steel bumper ties into the frame with two tie in brackets on each side. So the currie effectively has two frame bolts and two...
I see. The blue ox uses the existing frame tie in bolt, plus a 1/2" bolt in the frame and then one on the frame horn.
TheCurrie steel uses the existing bumper plus two bolts on the frame horn. The OEM steel bumper has two frame tie-ins on each side. So you could argue that the Currie steel...
The currie tab rotates up and down freely. Demco tab does not work - too fat and too long. Demco blue ox adapter needs some grinding to work (reduce the radius on the outer tabs) and it still does not rotate down 90 degrees without grinding on the bumper. I just went with the Curie tabs.
The...
Looks like M8-1.25 same as the negative. Since the nut on the +side was smaller (12mm) than the negative post, I figured the stud size was different but that size nut seems to be correct for both positive and negative studs.
Interesting. I bought the Currie specifically because it seemed pretty beefy. I'd like to know where it appears weak to you. As added insurance I intend to use the LOD frame tie-ins and will attach the safety cables to them.
We are going to flat tow the JL. In the past we use screw on TPMS sensors. It seems like it should be possible to just get some kind of repeater that reads the OEM sensors vs adding a redundant set of sensors. Has anyone heard of such a device, or should I just start looking for a separate set?
Does anyone know if a 392 has any differences in the frame/bumper that might cause issues with the Rock Jock tow bar? I suspect not but figured it would be better to ask....
