  1. I want the first 4xe Rubicon.

I am really curious how much of a electric range hit the Rubicon 4xe will take. I am assuming that as you get bigger tires the range will decrease. I was considering new tires and wheels, but their weight will have a big impact in range and electric range is the entire point of getting a 4xe.
  2. I want the first 4xe Rubicon.

Before the most recent versions of the Rock Track (or whatever they are calling it now), they didn't have full-time 4wd which was a real bummer because it is a really bad in snow. when you go on and off snowy roads, you can't practically turn the 4wd on and off. That effectively makes those...
  3. I want the first 4xe Rubicon.

We can fix this. I have been debating the Rubicon versus Sahara. I like the appearance of the Rubicon, but I can't honestly say that I need the locker and swaybar disconnect. Everything else I can put on a Sahara with the SelectTrac with the Limited Slip differential. I am considering getting...
  4. Selec Trac 4WD and Anti Spin Differential - finalizing custom order...Snazberry?

I had selc-trac (older version) with the limited slip on my liberty. It is amazingly good. With the limited slip differential and the low range, you will be surprised at how capably it can get you out of a once-a-year sticky situation, but it has perfect manners and is great in snow. Rear wheel...
  5. 2021 Wrangler 4XE Launch Brochure reveals unique wheels and gauge cluster

So you are saying that the regenerative brakes don't have anything at the wheel? Are they more like engine braking with a generator in the transmission?
  6. 2021 Wrangler 4XE Launch Brochure reveals unique wheels and gauge cluster

I am curious about "first-year-model-blues" on this jeep. For the 4xE, the body, suspension, interior, electric stuff, and front half of the engine is all exactly the same as the 2018+ wrangler JLs. The 2.0 eTorque has been out for a few years. Of course, the transmission and the electric...
  7. Jeep Is Installing Solar Chargers at Moab And Rubicon Trail For New Hybrid Wrangler 4xe

I’ve never seen so many people who are against the possibility of something new and different. maybe it will be cool. the fact that they have already wheeled the PHEV for 25 miles is absolutely amazing. As for being an eyesore, some of those trails are an eyesore by themselves with all the...
  8. One item not yet discussed - a hybrid Wrangler will have a GVWR of 6000+ pounds, qualifying it for a big tax giveaway: Section 179

Definitely! That’s totally legit. That’s what the deduction is intended for...to help small businesses grow. What I don’t like to see is when people use deductions like this to subsidize their purchase of an Escalade for their business as a financial advisor. Now back to the PHEV Wrangler...
  9. One item not yet discussed - a hybrid Wrangler will have a GVWR of 6000+ pounds, qualifying it for a big tax giveaway: Section 179

Not only is it a giveaway to business owners, but then by extension, the manufacturer. Fiat also benefits because they sell a vehicle that lots of people couldn't afford without the tax deduction. It really is a shame when tax benefits like this roll-up towards luxury buyers instead of people...
  10. One item not yet discussed - a hybrid Wrangler will have a GVWR of 6000+ pounds, qualifying it for a big tax giveaway: Section 179

Wow. I looked again, and you’re right. I didn’t know that they reopened the “hummer loophole.” That’s a shame. It isn't meant for these kinds of vehicles. They intend it for work vehicles like pickups and tow trucks that are needed because of their size.
  11. One item not yet discussed - a hybrid Wrangler will have a GVWR of 6000+ pounds, qualifying it for a big tax giveaway: Section 179

It looks like that is partially true. You can deduct $25,000 of the expense, but only if you are using it more than 50% for business. Remember that it is a DEDUCTION, so depending on your tax bracket, you only decrease your tax burden by 20%-40% of that $25,000. So it might be something in the...
  12. Wrangler 4xe PHEV will be revealed September 3 @ 9AM ET [Livestream Video Inside]

I mentioned a website that calculates your CO2 based upon your electricity source (Like coal or solar) based on the fuel used at your zip code. i forgot to include the link https://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/Find.do?action=bt2
  13. Wrangler 4xe PHEV will be revealed September 3 @ 9AM ET [Livestream Video Inside]

You're right, the environmental savings varies by your location and what your source of electricity is (coal versus solar, for example). Here's a website that does that calculation for you. They don't have the jeep up yet, but you can see the difference in eco-savings by plugging in another car...
  14. I want the first 4xe Rubicon.

For years I have complained that nobody has taken the eco-conscious 4x4 enthusiast seriously. Not all off-roaders are happy about gas guzzling vehicles as their only option. As soon as anyone comes out with a good hybrid or plugin hybrid 4x4, I will buy it. I have to put my...
  15. Off roading / Overlanding movie

Several of the Top Gear and Grand Tour season finale episodes have truly epic overland adventures. The Bolivia special is epic. They drive through the jungle of the Amazon rainforest (literally through the jungle with no roads) and over a 17,00 foot volcano to the Pacific ocean There is also...
