That’s the conclusion that I was leaning to as well but would like to put the issue to rest once and for all and the only way to do that is gonna require a trip to the dealership and talk to the parts dept... not the service dept... so I can look into the cooling system parts and diagrams on...
Very good testing of temps at various locations. What was the time difference between the readings. Also I don’t quite understand your statement about piston crown readings...
Or could the excessive temp readings be coming from the liquid cooled turbo... the temp swings are very erratic and closely mirror the amount of boost being applied by the turbo... just my hypothesis and not based on anything proven.

I would just like to know what the safe operating temperatures are for the coolant. What good is it to have the temperature display is if you don’t know what the temperature is supposed to be. Might as well replace the the gauge with one that says contact the dealership.
Please tell me what page in the manual I can find the parameters for the engine coolant. I brought the manual with me to work today to look it up but no luck ... also asked the same question to Jeep and was informed that I should inquire with the dealership.
Connect the third brake light wire to the blue wire to trigger the brake controller. It is the white wire with green stripe. Remove the plastic panel an the right side of the front passenger seat to make the connection then run it to the driver’s side or wherever your brake controller lives.
