You've got 250 miles on it, get it documented ASAP, say it doesn't seem to drive like the ones you test drove, and it feels worse when it is hot. My dealer, who isn't even who i bought it from, replaced it immediately, at about 1k miles. Made a night and day difference. I really don't...
Ok, got my ā20 JLU back today after getting the new steering gear... this is the way it is supposed to drive. Jeep follows the road, drives different than IFS, as expected. But it is 100% better than it was when we drove it off the lot. Believe it or not, when we turn the wheel, the Jeep...
Supposedly the parts arrived at my dealer this morning. I have this thing called work, so i wont be able to get the Jeep back till tonight, but fingers crossed. I'll also see if I can try to get a few pics of the new box.
Just brought my '20 JLU in this morning, has about 1000 miles. When I first dropped it off, the service manager was giving me the standard " How many jeeps have you owned, you know they drive different", and just in general being a bit dismissive, i felt.
Well, maybe it wasn't all in my...
Interesting. My Jeep (which has crappy steering) has a July 2020 build date. I'm assuming it does not have the new steering box. I'll have to go see if i see a part number this evening. I hope I don't have the AA box!
Yes, I have the cold weather package, but according to my build sheet, (from that site linked above), I have (and am supposed to have) "255/70R18 All Season Tires", and looking at Jeep's website for the Sahara Altitude, the cold weather package only includes seats, steering wheel, and remote...
I've got an appointment scheduled next Tuesday for my 2020's JLU's steering. I made the appt before this TSB, but maybe i should print out a copy of the TSB and 'forget' it on the passenger seat.
Sahara Altitude trim here as well. We have the chrome accents on the dash too. I didn't realize there was supposed to be different tires, though. I'll have to look at that. Pretty sure mine are All Season.
I'm not shy about doing these kinds of things to mine, but I have to learn a whole new vocabulary of parts! I've done brake pads/calipers, plugs, starters, and alternators, but never messed with steering before. Also don't want to waste money throwing parts at it.
We are getting more used to the Jeep handling, but I think I am going to still take it in to get looked over. We narrowed it down a bit to be the worst between 40 and 55, on a straight road. Itās then it feels as if we are constantly wandering from one side of the lane to another.
For, um, research purposes, how many cases of beer should I try? āBut honey, the internet said I had to put 15 cases of beer in the back to see if it helps the steeringā
I just picked up a Sahara altitude as well, used an affiliate code and did 1% under invoice, found a dealer with zero additional fees, got offered a non marked up good interest rate and no BS. 2.4%/60 month. I think mine was 55k MSRP, I think I paid 50.5k. Right now, most dealers donāt have to...
Maybe, but the brain is a powerful thing. And maybe if the tires were not at 50+ when I picked up the Jeep, I would have never questioned it. Cause it drove like shit at that tire pressure, but now the doubt is cemented in my head!
Thanks for all the posts all. I think I'm going to ask a buddy of mine who is a mechanic and drives a JK to take our JL out for a spin, get his opinion if he thinks there is something mechanically wrong.
Now all I need is time to go enjoy the Jeep! Anyone know how to get more of that?
