I’m sorry but you are just incorrect on the winch plate info (the plate is mounted to the inside frame and horn) and the difference between Roadmaster and Blue Ox baseplates. You are correct though that the Blue Ox base plate hangs out there!

I don’t but guess they could be used in a pinch. The length and 1/4” thickness would probably bend if pulled at even a slight angle. My opinion is that anything less than 1” thick and well tied into the bumper (welded) is not adequate for recovery. I’m relying on the winch for any recovery. 😀

I went with the Roadmaster 521456-5 base plate exactly because of the cost you mentioned after looking into it. The base plate was $430 from eTrailer.

Thanks! That one is an 800 Aristocrat. I’ve restored a number of Scouts and used the 211 for most of the fab work. It has been a great welder with zero issues.
