  1. Jeep Almost Got My Family Killed (Battery Issues)

Owned 30 cars and trucks before I ever saw power steering.... Yeah it gets your attention. But OP says himself that he "panicked"........ It's a PITA when that shit fails. It's not a near death experience.
  2. ESS Failure Today

My dad drove like that for decades. And not just hovering over the one he wasn't using, no pushing both at the same time. You know, keep the RPM's up and modulate power with the brake. Always bitching his brakes wouldn't last. Until he got his Model S and Elon started screaming at him every...
  3. Oil Filter

You may want to send it to a lab and have them evaluate whether it was bypassing......
  4. Auto Transmission Coolers

What does Jeep say is the proper operating temperature for this unit? What people "think" matters not. Manufacturers specs matter. Example Allison says it's normal for the 2500 installed in my motorhome to operate between 200-230 in the summer mountains. And, it all depends on where the sensor...
  5. What is the fastest speed you have driven your JL/JLU?

As someone who arrives in Munich, and other European cities for a living I can tell you that your reaction time, and cognitive ability is not at its best at that point. Doing 200K + may be fun, but not sure your risk management score is in the black there.
  6. 48V/ESG questions.

Thanks. I now have a better understanding of what's what. I must confess that I didn't realize that there may or may not be e-torque when I signed the paperwork. Guess I didn't do my homework very thoroughly. That said, I think I'm happy without. It drives just fine and there's a lot less...
  7. 48V/ESG questions.

Thank you for the Jeep Informant tip. Those vids are awesome. Learned about the "baby battery". And, it appears I don't have a BSG or 48V battery. From what I'm reading that's a good thing.
  8. 48V/ESG questions.

Apologies if asked and answered, I did a lot of reading on these pages but I'm still not "seeing it". Just got the 2.0 with automatic. Do all the 2.0/Auto have the system? I see nothing under the hood that looks different than what I'm used to. Where is the 48V battery if I have one? The...
  9. Electrical outlet

Why an outlet? Many inverters have the outlet built in. Depending on the wattage you're looking for you either get one that plugs into the 12V outlet or if you need more run it directly to the battery. (Make sure you fuse it).
  10. 5th wheel JLUR flat towing build (my very own road train)

There's a lot of states you can't bring that in to. Also, did you put the hitch on the fiver yourself? Surprised anyone sells/installs something that's 5K plus rated. Fiver frames are generally not designed to do that. Not saying it's unsafe, just questioning the legality. Other than that...
  11. Greetings

OK, front bumper is on. USA Smittibuilt XRC Gen II stubby. Heavy. 125 pounds. VERY good instructions. In real English. With color pictures. Which is good, 'caus the tech support dude I spoke to with a question was clueless. But it all came together without blood or f bombs. There's something...
  12. Greetings

Got the Curt hitch on. There was much blood, and bad words. Very bad words. 6 thick layers with poor alignment to get those 4 bolts through. What a pain. One of them I JUST got to thread itself into layer 4 and was able to turn it through. Boogered up the threads a little, but I was able to get...
  13. Greetings

New to this forum, not new to forums. Just became the happy owner of a 2020 Unlimited Sport. Hard Top, Ocean Blue/Black, Turbo4, 8-speed Auto, tinted windows and rubber mats. That was it. Not that I don't like doodads, but the sticker shock was bad enough. Should have seen the wife's face when...
