  1. You can now build a 2023 Rubicon with a snorkle

Man, that is the ugliest looking snorkel I've ever seen. All for the low low price of $795.
  2. Is there a way to reduce turbo lag on the 2.0T?

I had my drivers one replaced under warranty a while ago. There's a fix on the forum to try and avoid it. Both visors on our rental were broken. Didn't even think to check them before we drove off. Also had the old aluminum steering box and an aftermarket windshield. Just Jeep things...
  3. Is there a way to reduce turbo lag on the 2.0T?

We rented a V6 JL last weekend and waiting for it to keep up was sad. I'll take the 2.0L. I still don't notice any kind of meaningful lag. Compared to the V6 it is night and day. I also found myself back in the exact same harsh shifting land that I have been managing to mostly avoid on our...
  4. Texas Jeep Go Topless Event Results in more than 100 arrests/Officer in hospital.

Bolivar is a peninsula, it's connected by highway to Winnie and ferry to Galveston. If they can they will transport you by ambulance on the ferry. Ambulances and police have priority. If you are closer to High Island they may just drag you up to Winnie. Those people that got airlifted were in...
  5. Texas Jeep Go Topless Event Results in more than 100 arrests/Officer in hospital.

The area Wrangler clubs started it, but it's a public beach and people just show up. It's a lovely mix of the weekday DUI locals and a shithead who's who commuting in from the Houston area. I accidentally went down there the same weekend a few years ago. It was a hell of a mess. It literally...
  6. Texas Jeep Go Topless Event Results in more than 100 arrests/Officer in hospital.

Because Bolivar is basically just vacation homes, so they have to pull in police from all over the area to try and manage an unofficial event. So, 100 arrests is just an extreme tip of the iceberg of the troublemakers. They also had to airlift 8 people out.
  7. Max Payload for Overlanding

Definitely think like a backpacker, leave the big griddle at home, carry a light stove. Don't try to bring a massive LP bottle, bring a couple of small ones, you can buy them almost anywhere. Most of the places we camp water purification isn't an option, but try to keep the carried water down to...
  8. Is there a way to reduce turbo lag on the 2.0T?

One of the best automatic transmissions on the market is kind of like being the smartest kid in the special class... It's probably FCA's programming, but the transmission isn't great, I've had the Wrangler a year and a half now and it's still just tolerable. I don't care how awesome it is in...
  9. First trip: advice Big Bend National Park

First question: Did you book any campsites? Chisos is probably full by now and it is by far the best place to stay in the park. The other stuff is at lower altitudes and going to be a lot warmer unless you get lucky with a cold front. Be prepared for cold nights / hot days. There is camping in...
  10. Potential New owner question on Wrangler highway ability.

It can be very noisy, my watch alerts me pretty regularly when we are on the highway (>80 decibels). Loud noise increases fatigue, you'll probably feel more tired than you would expect after a long drive. The sound level varies a lot depending on wind direction. Running out west can be a...
  11. When the dealership checks to see if youve abused your jeep…

The "permanent" chargers are wired directly behind the wall. You can get a bit more amperage doing that rather than using a plug (if you run big enough wire), whether it makes a difference in your life? We charge our Tesla off the mobile charger and a 240V outlet. Think we paid something like...
  12. Drastic Improved Steering Feel via Service bulletin is 08-074-20 REV. B

If you read the TSB, the aluminum boxes got worse the higher the ambient temperature was. The cast iron box most likely keeps a lot more of its strength. I don't think wearing out comes into the discussion. I'm still annoyed that the steering could have been as good as it is now from day one...
  13. Should I get a JL?

Anyone with your best interests in mind is going to tell you that spending that much money on a car in your early 20's is a bad idea. Whether you can afford it or not, the money you bank in your 20's is going to be worth WAY more down the road than the money you save in your 30's or 40's...
  14. Rear Locker for Willys in 2022!?

I'm well aware what a Willys is, and it's brakes.
  15. Rear Locker for Willys in 2022!?

There's always that dedicated group of people that just don't trust power door locks or windows because it's another thing to break. Can't say I've seen many Willys Sports going around Houston but definitely the Willys seems to mostly be treated as an appearance package for the Sport. Which...
  16. Yet another dealer trying to price gouge.

Can't afford the car? Just tack another year on the loan until you're in debt up to your eyeballs for the rest of eternity. I thought 84 month loans were ludicrous...
  17. Additional heat shielding

Armorlite floors are a little expensive but keep the floor cool and quiet the cabin down a bit, added bonus: no more carpet.
  18. Air conditioning on 2020 4cyl turbo unlimited JL

    A) Relying on your CO2 impaired brain to tell you it is impaired? B) They've done a lot of research on this in the last decade, even more since COVID. Ventilation is important, outside CO2 levels are less than 500ppm (for now). I'd say be glad some engineer at Jeep actually bothered to put...
  19. Living with a Black Hardtop, in Texas.

I've definitely had a warm head since it stopped raining. It cools off if I'm moving. I aim the vents up a bit and it seems to help mix the air a little better. I'm thinking about buying a set of Hotheads to see how much it helps.
