  1. Electric interference with GMRS

This seems to have corrected the issue. I know its best to insulate source of interference but in this case I dont know how to insulate the throttle body.
  2. Electric interference with GMRS

Some internet crawling and I found threads pertaining to this same noise being from the throttle body. So If I know thats the source of the interference is there somehting I can do to limit it here? Should I just be looking a shielding the power wires?
  3. Electric interference with GMRS

I've had the radio in several different locations. Driver footwell, passenger seat, even moved under the hood for various wiring experiments. I will try twisting the power/ground wire to see if it helps. That exact noise is being heard over transmission and reception on the gmrs. I've also...
  4. Electric interference with GMRS

I have this noise under the hood with the key on. Its always been there since day one and I've never given it any thought until I've started trying to install GMRS. I moved power and ground directly to battery individually and together and it still gets picked up and transmitted by the radio...
  5. GMRS Antenna Question

so i bought a cheap analog swr meter and my midland mxta26 in 3 different locations on the jeep. I dont have specific SWR numbers but I was able to see relative using same cable and same antenna different locations. 1) Highest SWR tailgate mounted to hinge next to my CB antenna. SWR improved...
  6. GMRS Antenna Question

There is little to no information about mounting the antenna to the roll bar. I'm sure its because traditionally they have been made of round tubing. I'm just wondering about the wider and flat surface of the JLU roll bar how that might work for a ground plane.
  7. GMRS Antenna Question

I've crawled all over the internet but I havent seen this being discussed. The two general rules I've found for GMRS antennas is 1) height is important 2) ground plane is important. In our Jeeps it seems we can have one or the other. So for you radio afficionados. If you had to choose...
  8. Giveaway of the Month - August 2023 - Metalcloak Low Profile LED Tail Light Kit

I love the simplistic throwback design. Better than any other I've seen
  9. Alabama Spidertrax wheel spacers 2 pair

    1.75 Spidertrax hubcentric spacers. $175
  10. Rubicon Wheel Demand

I'm looking to upgrade my sport s with 285s and I found some with wheels for a very fair deal. If I can sell the wheels for 3-500 dollars it would make it an outstanding deal. I guess I'm just weird because I don't like the red jeeps on those wheels and prefer my black and gray setup I have now.
  11. Rubicon Wheel Demand

I don't yet have anything to sell so I'm not posting this in marketplace but I am looking to see if there is any demand for Rubi wheels only. I have the chance to buy 5 wheels and tires for a more than fair price and as I like my wheels on my sport better than the Rubi wheels if I can sell...
  12. Managed to add Homelink to my JL sport

I dont remember the part number but I found this picture on ebay.
  13. Managed to add Homelink to my JL sport

The homelink visor has two power wires and a ground. The one for the vanity mirror is hot all the time. The one for homelink is fed from the BCM and only hot with ignition on when programmed presumably for top off security. You can splice the power for the vanity lights into the homelink and...
  14. Managed to add Homelink to my JL sport

I would strongly suggest cutting the gray wire if youre not able to get it depinned fromthe connector. I dont think it would be a good idea to sent 12 volts to the BCM through that wire when you connect the power wire from your aux.
  15. Managed to add Homelink to my JL sport

I didnt have any of that happen to me. Did you try to power on the Jeep with the connector unplugged any? Maybe disconnecting the batteries can reset it all.
  16. Managed to add Homelink to my JL sport

I usually push in on the wire side to help relieve tension on the retainer. Other than that you gotta hold your mouth just right. Sorry i can't be more descriptive. Good Luck!
  17. Managed to add Homelink to my JL sport

I generally use pick tools to unpin connectors. Since I was at work (work at a shop, but not as a tech) I borrowed this tool specifically to do it. But I think almost any straight pick you can find in a set would work.
  18. Managed to add Homelink to my JL sport

I did not think to take pics while doing it because I was in problem solving mode and went into the situation hoping it would be just plug and play. These are the pics of the connector, the wire that I de-pinned out of the connector and the green jumper wire I made to connect to the switched...
  19. Managed to add Homelink to my JL sport

Hello all this is my first post and I wanted to share with you some tech info I learned while trying to add a Mopar sunvisor with homelink. First off, I have a JLU sport with lighted vanity mirrors. After looking at pictures I determined that both my visors and the Homelink visor had the same...
