I'm about 6 months in on 4.88's and have no regrets. It feels similar to stock, I didn't wait too long after going to 37's to regear. 8th gear is back completely, will drop into 7th on the interstate going up hills if necessary similar to stock.
I haven’t tried airing them down yet, but there are several others that are running them without issues that I’ve heard of. Kinda like a poor man’s bead lock.
No, the studs on the hubs stick out too far for thinner spacers (the spacer has to be thick enough to cover the factory studs to be able to mount the wheels on top of them).
Sure thing. I went with the Synergy 1.75” spacers. Wanted less, but the studs on the JL’s are longer and the 1 5/8” spacers won’t work. I’m very happy with how everything turned out.
I just had a Rock Krawler 2.5” Max Travel kit installed with 37’s on the stock wheels and the shop that did the install said that the tires rubbed on the rear upper control arms without the spacers.
It’s been a fun weekend!
RK 2.5” Max Travel kit
37” Nitto Ridge Grapplers with Synergy 1.75” spacers
Installed the Racor hoist with Topsy brackets to take the hard top off for the 1st time
That's probably why I haven't pulled the trigger either, I really want springs to firm things up and handle the weight better. Then it leads to 37's. Round and round we go!
I'm itching to upgrade from the stock 33's, I might be more patient if I was already on 35's. Good news on shocks and 1.5" springs, I admittedly haven't done enough research on shocks. There's no shortage of opinions on them though... I think I'm still leaning towards doing a 1.5" spacer lift...
Looks great Mike. I was 99% sure I was going to do a 2.5" RK or MC lift with 37's this spring, but when you started your thread on the 2" lifts, I'm scratching my head again since mine is my daily and not sure i want to open the 37" can of worms! Paralysis by Analysis!
I'm no expert, only had mine a little over a month, just have been asking a lot of questions and learning from the wealth of knowledge here. It seems that the 8 speed handles 37's better, but I'd probably eventually regear as well even with my 3.6 and 8 speed if I go with 37's. My concern with...
Great looking Jeep! I have the same dilemma and have been looking at either the Rancho 2" kit or the Dynatrac 2" kit. Or just may go all in with 37's. Decisions...
