Thats great news!...I adjusted mine last summer by 1/4 turn and its just about perfect...I still notice temperature has an influence on it...so colder it is the tighter it feels. Its been in the back of my mind though, why are the dealers reluctant to turn this screw? should I turn it back...
It(track bar) will help but more of a placebo effect I think, its stiffer but the dead spot remained. The steering box is the only way to actually get rid of it, I feel some boxes are tighter than others, quality control issue? I adjusted mine by 1/4 turn and it made all the difference...went...
My wife won't drive mine either...upgraded to yeti track bar, Fox2.0, 36psi, definitely made an improvement. I went from the steering doing nothing +/- 1" at TDC. I would be sawing on the steering wheel at highway speeds. Adjusted gearbox 1/4 turn and I'm down to +/- 1/8 at TDC(which is still...
I tend to agree with this, I have a 2020 JLUR and it sucks too...AE steering box...updated to Yeti track bar and Fox2.0 steering stabilizer. Those did improve it but the real difference was adjusting the box...1/4 turn...removed 3/4 inch play. I haven't noticed any locking or additional...
Haha most likely, if not my JL definitely my JK...so you know it gets cold...I have zero steering lock happening(knock)... i've adjusted my steering box twice 1/8 turn each time, drove it 1000km, then adjusted it again and driven it 1000 more...so far so good. Unfortunately I would still give...
@JeepCares
I have the 2020 JLUR, right off the lot horrible steering...this is my 3rd jeep, nothing i've ever driven has been this bad...I replaced the track bar(yeti) steering dampner(fox2.0) lowered the tire pressure...all made minute improvements...it wasn't until I adjusted the steering...
This one; this prolly isn't a JL but similar...right side, front engine bay...look straight down. Not something I would mess with if your not technically savvy
Yes, Steer Smarts track bar(improved deadspot), Fox2.0 Steering Damper(touch stiffer steering in general) and did a 1/4 turn on my gear box adjustment screw(1/8th turn each time, cleaned up remaining deadspot) ...I am finally happy with it.
Haha, i thought the same thing...not sure if the cops would understand...”defective steering eh?!” I was able to break the loctite without heating using a hex socket..heating would of been easier. Honestly though, i just installed the steer smarts yeti track bar and fox 2.0(doubt the damper...
I agree, air down the tires and take it on the highway...I have the 2020 jlru, don't have the wandering or death wobble but that dead spot on the steering wheel is taking the joy out of driving this thing on the hightway. Just received the steer smarts yeti track bar and fox 2.0 damper...
Thanks for the heads up! Initially rotated 1/16th clockwise with subtle but noticeable improvement. Continued to 1/8th, feels much better imo, stopping here. I would say I have about 1/4-1/2 inch of play (was around 1 1/2 off the lot). I would also say the play feels stiffer and much more...
I have the 2020 jlur ... 2 weeks old, first thing i noticed was the disjointed feel of the steering... it has the AE steering box. Lowered psi to 36, even better when 34(cold) made a huge difference. Telescoping the steering wheel out also made a surprising difference. Im about to do a 1/8th...
I have a 2020 as of 2 weeks ago, same issue...constantly adjusting it. Much better since deflating to 36(41) but I still have the sense of being disconnected to the road. Hoping the Falcon 2.2 will help improve this, I'll take a 10% improvement. My JK was not like this.
I have a 2020 JLUR same thing, noticed it immediately...lowered the pressure from 41 to 36, much better but on hte highway with crosswinds, I'm constantly adjusting back and forth through the 1 inch deadzones until it bites. My JKU was tight, my GT350 tighter...I just want consistancy I think...
