  1. What did you do TO your Jeep JL today?

Got woken up by my dogs at the crack of dawn this past Sunday.. so I sipped on some coffee and installed my new stubby bumper. + Got the 285/70r17 Falken Wildpeak AT tires mounted today.
  2. Uconnect 3 with 5" Screen looses time

Same issue, dealer supposedly did a software update a month ago.. had no affect. Definitely annoying.
  3. Dealer wants $660 to change differential fluid

NYC/Long Island dealers all charge absorbent rates, it’s ridiculous. Like most ppl here have said, I bought all the needed tools/oil supplies from amazon (all under $100- if you need tools, much less if you don’t) and got the DIY from this site & YouTube. No jack needed so it’s fairly easy...
  4. Help, Metal chunks found in axle

*Update 3 I’m worried.. Advisor told me that they need to order parts again, because they got the “older version” and that I have the “newer version”, referring to the carrier they were replacing along with bearings. What is he talking about because he could not explain it to me. I asked him if...
  5. Help, Metal chunks found in axle

They told me the damage was on the bearings as you claimed.
  6. Help, Metal chunks found in axle

*2nd Update So my dealer told me that they're replacing the "carrier" and anything within that carrier housing (spider gears, etc) but not the entire Dana 44 rear axle. Claiming everything else "looked perfect", is this okay? They kept mentioning that the extra metal pieces (not including the...
  7. Help, Metal chunks found in axle

Does anyone here have a diagram of the component that houses the spider gears for the dana44 open diffenrential? I'm trying to get a visual of what my advisor is replacing, and if I need to stress a more thorough inspection. My warranty will expire in less than 1,000 miles, so I don't want to be...
  8. Help, Metal chunks found in axle

Yea it blew my mind, saying it would take at least 2 hours of labor... To take it off. I'm just glad they covered it under warranty but still makes me skeptical of my dealer's motive & mechanics.
  9. Help, Metal chunks found in axle

I would love to do this, as I have a bit of OCD, but I doubt they'll be responsive to my request, doesn't Hurt to try I guess. Anyone know if the spider gears and other bearings are contained within a closed component or would the metal pieces be flying around anywhere in the differential cover?
  10. Help, Metal chunks found in axle

*Update~ So after dropping off my Jeep at the dealer, they were a bit skeptical at first of my claims which bothered me, claiming "how do we know you didn't cause the damage yourself?, If you did it's not covered under warranty.." which irked me, but they said they would check it out. Later on...
  11. WTB (5) KO2's Tires only, NY

Looking to buy a set of (5) KO2 Tires, preferably new/low mileage. Rubicon take offs are fine.
  12. Help, Metal chunks found in axle

Question, if you haven't posted about it yet, but how did you find out you had issues before opening it up, fluid change with chunks like me? Or was there any physical signs/vibrations while driving?
  13. Quick Help please, do I have LSD?

Ah... Well I guess I'll find out soon enough, got an appt at the end of the month. I didn't get a chance to read the thread with the Dana 44 knocking yet, but did the dealers just replace the whole axle or what for others?
  14. Quick Help please, do I have LSD?

I agree, tires are the most important. People use to stare in awe when my older brother was able drive through heavy snow & icy roads in a 2003 BMW Z4 roadster, other cars & SUVs slipped and slid, yet the Z4 remained perfectly reliable in blizzard conditions because he had Blizzak snow tires on...
  15. Help, Metal chunks found in axle

The 2018 Sport S's with manual transmission came with the Dana 44 and no LSD, unless you paid for the LSD. It's on my build sheet when I looked up my VIN, but I Don't know about newer models.
  16. Quick Help please, do I have LSD?

Just a follow up for those who want to know in the future. I just checked after lifting my car up, Got OPEN Differential , so even 2018 6-Speed Manuals with A/T tires don’t get LSD unless you paid for it, oh well~
  17. Help, Metal chunks found in axle

Nope but it's the Dana 44 open differential if that's relevant
  18. Help, Metal chunks found in axle

I don't get why you're doubting if I needed a fluid change, (my rear fluid was almost dark black) and how it's "beyond" you that they could fit through the drain plug. The drain plug is 5/8" (I forget), those pieces aren't 1/2" squares.
  19. Help, Metal chunks found in axle

Forgot to mention my car specs/mileage if that helps. JLU Sport S Manual Tranny 33K miles
  20. Help, Metal chunks found in axle

I'm concerned because I found two 1/2" metal chunks after changing my rear axle fluid (def not your typical metal shavings). I will be contacting my dealer as I have the V41 recall coming up at the end of the month. Was this my fault, did I do something directly to cause this?? Lastly, does...
