My JL is in for the inspection today. The dealer said that it will take a couple months to get parts. It is a better situation than my WK2 for which there are still no parts to order.
I found the other threads on this issue and I believe that I have resolved the problem.
I was suspicious of the oil filter and when I got a good look from underneath I saw that the filter was far from being seated. Not knowing if I could remove the oil filter without lowering the oil level, I...
Rick, what happened with this issue? I have had nearly the same thing happen to me except that I put in all 9 quarts when I did the oil change. The oil pressure seems fine when driving (usually around 30psi) but is about 10psi when I first start it when the engine is already warm. That kicks off...
My local dealer made me a good offer to purchase my vehicle even with the open recall. They said that it just means that they cannot resell it as a "certified" vehicle.
Since the second quarter of 2023 does not end until midnight, June 30th at the tip of the Aleutian Islands, I suppose I should not be expecting parts to be available in April. It is annoying having to wait so long for parts. My Wrangler and Grand Cherokee are both under the fuel pump recall.
I...
I suppose the automobile manufactures don't care about customers like me. I live off the grid with a two hour drive to a town of any size. I have calculated it would take me about 200 days to charge an EV battery using my solar system.
I installed a scangauge II and drove 600 miles (mostly 75mph). The gauge never showed a regen occurring (the distance from last regen is still blank). The soot level typically drifted down at speeds greater than 70mph and drifted up at speeds less than 60mph. I started at 54% STM and saw it go...
What I have done is tape a string to the bottom of the drive shaft and mark the side of the tire at the bottom. Move the vehicle exactly one tire revolution and then look at the string. You should be able to tell if it is more or less than four revolutions.
Pretty much the same thing happened to me two or three times last summer. I assume it has to do with heat. I was stuck at 50mph, or so, for a couple minutes then it ran fine afterward. It has not happened this year. I think it is some sort of limp mode.
Edit: And this was in New Mexico - not...
I got the first 2-door JK belly pan (Al) from Artec. They installed it for free since they did not have such a vehicle of their own for testing. They found something was not quite right so they had to reinstall it a month or so later. That was when they were in Mescal, AZ. Maybe someone in the...
Here is a way to disable the ESS:
Have a critter (such as a rat or squirrel) chew through the two wires wrapped in fabric tape next to the main battery. The ESS will stop working. After driving for a while (maybe 30 minutes or so) the ESS error icon will come on. Pressing the Start/Stop button...
OH! This may explain my experience the other day. Driving across town (after the engine was warm) I thought it was weird that the ESS was not turning off the engine when stopped at traffic lights. Maybe it was because of a regeneration. It finally turned off the engine when I stopped in the...
If you have electric power, I recommend attaching a battery charger/tender. I am not sure how it all works when cold, but the system may be using the battery to do things like keeping the DEF line from freezing. (DEF freezes below 12F.)
From my experience, regen's normally occur about every 200 to 300 miles and there is nothing that indicates it is happening unless you have a special monitoring device. Rarely, due to prolonged idling or such, messages about a regen will be displayed.
I wish that the messages were always...
