After the first time removing the doors those bolts never went back in. With the doors closed they can’t go anywhere. For all intents they are unnecessary.
Guaranteed that when you need it your bumper will be under water or deep in mud... Murphy's Law. I think the last thing I would put there is recovery gear. Maybe turn it into an insulated compartment for your beer...
There are several articles on YouTube about deleting the AUX battery. Simplest method (I used it) is to remove the battery, disconnect/shrink wrap/Tie up a couple of the cables, and remove a circuit breaker. I haven't had any issues since doing this. I also run a REDARC DC to DC charger for...
You aren't just investing in tools, you are investing in understanding how things work so when they don't work and you are in the middle of nowhere you have a much better chance of getting home. Knowledge is power and there are plenty of people on this forum and many others out there that are...
At about 2:30 into the video - empty streets, side road with two police cars - why didn't they just pull in front and block the road? Seems this could have been a very short "pursuit".
I'm not a mechanic, but... In a full float axle the axle shaft only drives the wheel, it doesn't drive and support the wheel. Bearing surface and size is also larger on a full float axle spreading the load over a larger surface. The other benefit for off-roading is if you snap an axle shaft...
My biggest gripe about new cars and all the fancy dash displays is their horrific lack of dimming. The night options seem to be bright, really bright, and blinding. There is no such thing as dim lighting anymore. I wish they had a black-out option. In the military (pilot training) we were...
My CV Joint Caps are 12-point because I have an aftermarket driveshaft. I believe the original was Torx but don't recall 100%. That being said, 12 point will always work where 6 point may not, so why not just stock 12 point in your travel bag?
First aid supplies to support the maximum extent of your training and competence.
Recovery gear and training/knowledge/experience to use it - amazing how many people will try to kill themselves using recovery gear improperly and/or dangerously
TRAINING and PRACTICE - know your limits before you...
In a remote wilderness situation, loss of your property could lead to loss of your life, so you would need to interpret properly and act accordingly. There is more than one story of vehicles being hijacked in the deep wilderness with close-call consequences for the people left behind. But in...
I would suggest Acetone over Mineral Spirits to remove all the grease. Mineral spirits has an oily residue in my opinion. Whatever the can says to use as clean-up though should work and not affect the adherence of the spray. Grit Blasting is always preferred in my opinion - simple and...
Watched a Tacoma driver roll his truck at the OHV Park high speeding in a turn (probably trying to slide the back end around) but on an off-camber section of otherwise flat terrain. Outside wheels caught and over it went. Took him away in an ambulance, and the truck was totaled. Park Rangers...
IN addition to all the other comments in here, a winch draws a lot of current, so if you don't have a remote battery in the back of your vehicle you'll need to run 0 or 00 wire from the front of your rig to the back of your rig to power that winch.
I've been having starting issues in my 2018 JLUR. I've had the ESS bypassed (TASER) for at least two if not three years. I bypassed the AUX battery two weeks ago hoping that would fix my problem but it didn't. I finally removed the connections from my main battery, charged my main battery...
A lot depends on your wheel backspacing (or spacers), and bump stop. Also the brand of lift and how much load you carry. You should be able to fit 37’s,especially with deleting the plastic fender liner (I assume that is the case when you put on aftermarket fenders?
