I've also been thinking about going this route. I have a 3.5" lift and 37s but I'm wanting to lower it down and split the fenders to gain back some uptravel.
I was chasing death wobble and a weird steering feeling like I was pulling a trailer with too much weight on the ass end.
Here is what I did to get it driving as close to perfect as a Jeep can drive on the highway.
I increased caster to 6.8. Helped with it tracking straight on the highway...
I have black fenders and glad I do. They get beat up. If you drive any gravel the rears catch a lot of rocks. If you plan on offroading it, they will get pretty scratched up too. Mine are chipped and scratched. If they were painted they'd look horrible.
It sounds like it's coming from the hinge or the tire mount. I have to top off right now and it still rattles. If I hit the tire or shut the gate it rattles pretty bad.
I've had one on for about 10k miles. It has started rattling pretty bad. I do think I'm in the minority though. Just finished a pretty hard wheeling trip in Colorado and it had been driving me crazy every since. I checked torque on all the bolts and everything was tight. It rattles when I close...
I'm either going to go to a 2.5" Metalcloak spring or a 2" Synergy. I have a 2 post lift I can use to stuff the axle with the springs out and take measurements. I was just wondering if anyone has done it yet to see what the measurements were. Right now I'm running Rocksport shocks so compressed...
It's a lifted Rubicon. I have a 3.5 lift on it now with 37s. Planning on splitting the fenders and going with a shorter lift. I'm looking at different shocks but want to make sure they won't bottom out before bumping out. So basically just wanting to know what length I need for the compressed shock.
Thought I'd ask before going through the work of pulling springs in case someone else has already done it. Does anyone know the minimum shock length requires to run 2 inches of bump stop? I guess while we are at it does anyone have measurements for other bump stop lengths? Might be a good...
Metalcloak doesn't recommend it even with their 3.5 kit. I'm pretty sure with Steersmart's kit and a Metalcloak lift you have to run 4" of bumpstops to keep it from hitting the frame. I'm not sure what Synergy requires.
I'm running the same lift and tires. I'm only using 2" of bump stops. I was rubbing the back plastic piece that connects to the stock rear bumper. When I went to an aftermarket rear bumper I have no rubbing.
I posted mine on here and Facebook marketplace a couple days ago for $300. It has the sensor holes. I haven't had any hits on it yet. I think location makes a big difference. I'm in the KC area.
